September 4: Red Buttes to Lilly Pad Lake 

September 11 : Kangaroo Lake to Bull Lake Leave at 8:00 AM
TH: Head South on I-5 to exit 766 (Gazelle). Turn left (south) on Highway 99 for 7 miles to Gazelle. Turn Right in Gazelle onto the Gazelle Callahan Highway. Drive 18 miles to left turn for Kangaroo Lake (clearly marked) on Rail Creek Road. The TH parking for Fen Trail is on the left in 6.8 miles, just before the main Kangaroo Lake Parking. The TH is just across the Road. EDT: 1:35. Description: Climb to the saddle beyond Kangaroo Lake and down a short distance to the PCT. Turn left on the PCT and follow it all the way to Bull Lake. Overlooks include entire marble mountains, Trinity Alps and Siskiyou mountains as well as Kangaroo Lake, Robber Meadows, Bull Lake, Shasta and Mount Eddy. Destination Elevation: 7,080 feet. Distance: 8 miles; Elevation Gain :1,200 feet. Total Ascent: 1,400 feet. Optional descent to Bull Lake adds 1 mile and roughly 300 feet of ascent. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 150 miles.

September 18: Crater Peak in Crater Lake National Park (p. 74 in 100 Hikes) Leave at 8:00 AM 
TH: Take the Rim Drive East road from Park Headquarters 2.5 miles to the Vidae Falls  Picnic Area. Estimated drive time: 2 hours. Hike description:.Walk thru woods and flowers to summit of Crater Peak.  Circle around the peak; return the same way Distance:   6.57 miles RT. Elevation gain: 1,392 feet. RT mileage 190 miles. September 25:  Castle Lake to Castle Arch - Leave at 8:00 AM. Difficult Hike.
TH: South on I-5 to Exit 738, the central Mount Shasta exit. Right on West Lake Rd, Left on W. A. Barr Road (10 miles), Left on Castle Lake Road to parking and TH at the road end. EDT: 1:40.
Take the trail to Heart Lake from the Castle Lake parking lot to the Crags Wilderness Boundary, where we will follow the heavily used informal "Castle View Trail" over the ridge to the PCT to the saddle just to the south. Then following an off trail bushwhacking route along the ridge top and the northeast side of the ridge to the arch. On the way back we will detour to Heart Lake.
 Distance 7.5 miles. Elevation gain 2,700 feet. The approach to the Arch includes a climb up a steep lightly forested slope. Weather forecast. RT Driving mileage 160 miles.
