Wednesday Hike Schedule for April 2024

Leave from the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sunscreen and rain gear as appropriate. April 3: Jacksonville Forest Park
TH: North on I-5 to Phoenix, exit 24.  Head west to a right on OR-99 for 1.4 miles to a left onto South Stage Road then into Jacksonville pass the Library then head out Highway 238 to Jacksonville Reservoir Road. Head to Parking area P1A. Start at the parking area and go across the dam. From there head up the trails to Pipssisewa Summit. Come back down to Knobcone Pine Bench. Then back to the parking lot. 4.76 miles and 1,800 feet of change. Weather forecast: RT mileage: 70 miles

April 10: Stukel Mountain Leave at 8:30 AM 
TH: Take Dead Indian Memorial Road for 28 miles, Right on Clover Creek Road for 22 miles, merge onto OR-66 for 13 miles, exit the traffic circle onto OR-140 for 1.3 miles, right onto OR39S for 0.5 miles, left onto Short Road for 1 mile, right onto Reeder Road for 1.6 miles, right onto Hill Road for 1.7 miles, then left onto FAA/USFS road for 50 feet to the TH on the left. EDT: 90 minutes. This is a 7.2-mile out-and-back trail near Klamath Falls, Oregon, climbing 2,582 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 140 miles.

April 17 : Lost Creek Lake (west shore) (p. 82 in 100 Hikes) Hike leader: June
TH: Take Highway 62 to Lost Creek Lake and turn left onto Takelma Road at "Fish Hatchery" sign; drive past fish hatchery, power plant and dam to the turn to the boat ramp at 2.2 miles from Highway 62. Continue 0.4 miles to the boat ramp parking lot / TH. EDT: 75 minutes. Description: follow Lost Creek Lake trail to our usual lunch bench; return the same way Distance: 9.6 miles; elevation gain: about 1,000 feet.Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 100 miles.

April 24: Castle Crags to Castle Dome (p. 214 in 100 Hikes)Leave at 8:15 AM Hike leader: Bob H.
TH: South on I-5 to Exit 724, Castella. Right on Castle Creek Road to the state park entrance. Entrance fee is $7 per car for seniors. Continue on 2.1 miles to the Vista Point TH. EDT: 90 minutes. Description: Before heading up the Crags Trail to Castle Dome with views of the Crags and Mt. Shasta check out the short side trail over to Vista Point just off the parking lot. Distance: 6 miles; elevation change: 2,200 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 180 miles.
