June 2: PCT by Pilot Rock to Babbit Gap
Directions: South on I-5 to the Mt Ashland Exit 6, continue on old Hwy 99 under the freeway overpass for 2.3 miles to a left turn onto the Pilot Rock gravel road for one mile to the PCT crossing. EDT 30 minutes.
Description: Hike along the PCT past the spur trail for Pilot Rock and bare left out to Babbit Gap for lunch and great views of surrounding mountains. Approximately 6 miles RT with 900'+ elevation gain.
Weather forecast. The RT driving distance is 30 miles.
June 9: Little Hyatt TH to Greensprings Mountain Loop and back.
Directions: Up Highway 66 to summit parking on the left, then down Old Hyatt Prarie Road to parking by Little Hyatt Dam.
Description: We'll be on the PCT for much of this 7-mile loop, the gain is about 500'. The loop will show us many views of mountains and down into the valley. Weather forecast. The RT driving distance is 50 miles.
June 16: McCloud River Falls (CA) 8:00 AM from Rite Aid parking lot.
TH: I-5 south past Mt Shasta, take the McCloud exit, drive east on Highway 89 for 17 miles, and turn right at the Fowlers Camp sign to the parking lot. EDT one hour 45 minutes.
Description: Three waterfalls viewed while hiking up the McCloud River in a volcanic canyon. It's worth seeing, especially the Middle Falls. 5+ miles RT, about 500' gain. Weather Forecast. 190 miles RT.
June 23: Grizzly Peak then Lost Creek Falls
TH: Up DIM 6.5 miles to left onto Shale City Road, to Left at Grizzly Peak sign, 3 miles out to parking.
Description: Up a flowered trail through the forest to the top. Hike the trail clockwise, and stop for views down into the valley and surrounding mountains. 5.5 miles RT, 1,200' gain. Then follow Shale City road around to the turnoff for Lost Creek Falls a short hike with big scenic returns! Weather forecast. 30 miles RT.
