Leave from the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street promptly at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sun-creen and rain gear. September 2: New Wonder Trail to Fell on Knee Leave at 8:30 AM AM, Lithia Park Upper Parking Lot
Directions: Drive to Lithia Park, go up past the Swimming Reservoir to the top of the parking area across the road from the TH. EDT: 15 minutes. Description: Take the New Wonder trail up to where it meets the old Wonder Trail. Continue up the Wonder Trail to where it meets the Fell on Knee Trail for lunch. RT 8.6 miles, elevation gain 1,300'. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 10 miles.

September 9: Anderson Ridge Trail (J-A  trail) from Greenstone TH Leave at 8:30 AM
TH: I-5 to the Phoenix Exit 24 and left to Highway 99. Turn right and proceed to Stage Road and go left. Continue on Stage Road to the end and turn left at the T junction on Griffin Lane. Drive past the school and go straight past both Pioneer Road and West Griffin Creek Road, continuing straight for about 2 miles until you see a left marked Griffin Creek Road (confusing but correct).  Left onto the paved Griffin Creek Road and it will soon turn into the paved Anderson Butte Road which continues about 5 miles up to 4,500 feet elevation. The pavement ends and there is a sign on the right marked Griffin TH. Continue straight on FS Rd 39-2-8. Do not go left on Anderson Butte Road. In one mile you will come to a big pile of gravel on the right and Greenstone TH markers across the road on the hill. EDT: 45 minutes. Description: The trail ascends through old growth forest to the ridge and along the ridge another 2 miles to the Anderson Ridge TH. Distance 6.4 miles. Approximately 1,000 feet of climb.  Weather forecast. RT Mileage 50 miles.

September 16: Union Creek Trail Leave at 8:00 AM
TH: Take Highway 62 north from Medford to Union Creek; EDT: 90 minutes. Description:The trail starts over by the creek. It meanders about 4 miles along the creek. Lush vegetation, but the trail has been cleared by the Forest Service. 8 miles RT with not much gain. Distance: 8.2 miles; elevation gain: 600 feet. Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 150 miles.

September 23: PCT from Cook & Green Pass to Echo Lake and towards Lilly Pad Lake (p. 160 in 100 Hikes) Leave at 8:00 AM
TH: Past Applegate Lake to the T innersection. Left on Elliot Creek Road / NF-1050 for 2.1 miles. Right on NF-1055 for 9.8 miles to the TH at Cook & Green Pass. High clearance vehicles recommended. EDT: 1:45. Description: Hike on the PCT to the ridge above Echo Lake for a nice lunchtime view down to the Lake. Continue past Echo Lake towards Lily Pad Lake for huge additional views. Turn around before the Lake or continue down to the Lake. Elevation gain about 2,000 feet spread out gradually over the hike. 7.1 miles return to the turnaround or 8.1 miles to Lily Pad Lake and back. Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 120 miles

September 30: Deadfall Lakes, Mt Eddy(CA).Leave at 8:00 AM
TH:South on I-5 and take Exit 751 (about 1.5 miles after rest area at Weed airport). Right on Old Highway 99; Right at stop sign, then left onto Stewart Springs Road; after 4 miles turn right onto Road 17 for 9.3 miles to the PCT crossing with parking lot on left. Description: Walk uphill 3 miles along PCT to Middle Deadfall Lake; continue uphill another 1.5 miles to Upper Deadfall Lake, Continue up to the ridge. (Hike to Summit Optional) Distance: RT 9.1 miles, 1,400' gain (2,000' to summit). Weather forecast.  RT mileage:155 miles.
