March 6: Trans-Ashland (Oredson-Todd Woods to Lithia Park)
TH: Leave shuttle car at Rite Aid. Car pool up Tollman Creek Road. Turn right on Green Meadows Way, turn left on Lupin to Oredson-Todd Woods TH parking. EDT: 10 minutes. A local hike across town that goes through three parks and ends at the Plaza for lunch. Then we take the bus back to Rite Aid. 5+ miles, 800' gain. Hikers with cars at Rite Aid please assist drivers with cars at O-T Woods. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 10 miles.
March 13: Lost Creek Lake (West Shore to Blue Grotto Falls)
TH: Take Highway 62 to Lost Creek Lake; turn left onto Takelma Road at “Fish Hatchery” sign, Drive about 4.5 miles to TH.EDT: 75 min. Description: Follow the trail around the lake to a left after bridge up to the Blue Grotto Falls for lunch. 8 miles RT, 800' gain. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 100 miles.
March 20: Jacksonville Woodlands (loop hike from Beekman House)
TH: Take 1-5 to the Phoenix exit 24, turn right onto Highway 99, then left on South Stage Road to Jacksonville and park in the Beekman House parking lot.
We will follow the trails and view wildflowers, mining exhibitions and get our exercise hiking up and down the trails. We can stop for lunch at the Fiesta restaurant then complete
our loop back to Beekman House. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 50 miles.
March 27: Layton Mine Ditch Trail (Part 1 to Chinese Wall)
TH: North on I-5 to exit 55 for Grants Pass. Follow Highway 199 for 3 miles to a left on Highway 238 towards Williams. South on the Williams Highway to the town of Williams, then south on the East Fork Road to a left (east) turn on to Panther Gulch Road (Bureau of Land Management Road 39-5-2). Head east on Panther Gulch for 2.3 miles (paved, then good gravel) to a T-junction and park. Description: The upper trail heads north to the right off the road. Take the ditch trail out to the constructed Chinese retaining wall. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 100 miles.
