Leave from the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street promptly at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sun-screen, insect repellent and rain gear as appropriate. In winter, bring layers. TH = trailhead; EDT = estimated drive time; RT = round trip mileage; PCT = Pacific Crest Trail; DIM = Dead Indian Memorial Highway.  Vaccination against COVID19 is required. March 3: Da-Ku-Be-Te-De Trail (Applegate Lake) Hike Leader: Sunny
TH: Take Highway 238 from Jacksonville to Ruch (8 miles); turn left onto Upper Applegate Road and drive 15 miles to rest area by the dam.  EDT: 60 minutes.
Description: Walk some 3.5 miles along the northwest shore of Applegate Lake; retrace our incoming route after lunch. Distance: 7 miles RT; elevation gain: unknown—generally level, with undulations. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 100 miles

March 10: Applegate Lake Loop (p. 147 in 100 Hikes)
TH: Take Highway 238 from Jacksonville to Ruch (8 miles); take Upper Applegate Road 15 miles to Applegate Dam; drive left across the dam to the French Gulch TH (1.2 miles); EDT: 60 minutes. Description: Make a loop on the Applegate Lake Trail system in a clockwise direction so that we get the uphill out of the way before enjoying lunch on Hal's Point. Distance: 7.6 miles; elevation gain: about 1,000 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 80 miles.

March 17: Frank Hill Road Trail Leave Liz's at 9:00 AM Hike Leader: Liz
TH: Drive through Ashland, up Highway 99 to a left onto North Main Street just before the railroad bridge. Right on Fox Street to Ashland Mine Road. Park at or near Liz's house at 1400 Ashland Mine Road. Frank Hill Road is at the corner of Ashland Mine Road and Fox Street. Description: Hike up the road which eventually becomes a trail. Continue up past abandoned trailers to multiple overlooks of the Rogue Valley.  Lots of elevation gain as we head up the ridge.  Libations and snacks at my place afterwards.  Weather forecast. RT mileage: 20 miles.

March 24: Hike the Ashland Watershed Hike Leader: Mary
TH: Leave at 9:00 AM from the Glenview Drive parking area.
I scoped out a semi-loop that avoids the closed areas where beetle killed trees are being removed in Lithia Park. It is about 6.4 miles and goes up Bandersnatch, Gryphon, Upper Red Queen to road 2060, then returns via Upper Red Queen, and Snark. About an 1,100' gain on the way up.  Distance: 6.4 miles. Weather forecast.

TH: Drive through Ashland, up Highway 99 to a left onto North Main Street just before the railroad bridge. Right on Fox Street to Ashland Mine Road.
