The wildflower walks focus on botany, geology and ecology. On these walks there is plenty of time for stopping and discussion as well as for taking photographs and birding so birders are encourage to bring their binocs. There are no specific walk distance or time targets because the walk lengths depend on the number of species encountered. We get our exercise running off into the underbrush.

May 6: Head over to Emmigrant Lake  and see what flowers we might find there.   Meet up at Rite Aid at 9:30AM.  Let me know if you are coming; text please at this point. Liz Cell: 707-332-2699. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 10 miles.

May 20: Rogue River Preserve!  Leave the Comfort Suites parking lot off I5 exit 19 at 9:00 AM.  Or you can meet up with us at the Dodge Bridge County Park parking lot, before we continue down the road to the locked property.
TH:  Highway 62 past Eagle Point, turn left onto Highway 234 towards Sams Valley. Cross the bridge and take the first right onto Rogue River Drive.  EDT: 40-45 min. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE COMING. ANY CHANGES DAY OF, CALL ME ON MY CELL AT 707-332-2966.

The Southern Oregon Land Conservancy (SOLC) has graciously offered us access to their Rogue River Preserve.  The 352-acre property boasts four distinct habitats, so lots of opportunities for flowers.  If you ever wanted to check out this place that is not open to the public very often, this is the time.  Kay and Elisabeth's Friday hiking group have been invited to join us for this special day.   Bring a lunch and water. Afterwards, we can do some wine tasting at the Bayer Winery off Agate Road, a very nice spot to relax. Weather forecast.  RT mileage: 50 miles.

Finally, while voluntary, we are encouraging each participant to make a $2.50 donation to the SOLC as an expression of our collective appreciation. Liz will collect the money at the Dodge Bridge parking lot before we head on to the locked preserve.  This will be in addition to a suggested payment for gas to drivers by those who are riding in carpools.  Liz will be happy to reimburse the car drivers for the loss of gas money.
