Leave from the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street promptly at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sun-screen and rain gear. October 3: Fall Colors: Upper Rogue River Trail: Woodruff Bridge to Natural Bridge RT (p. 92 in 100 Hikes) - Leave at 8:30 AM 
TH: Take Highway 62 towards Crater Lake and make a left onto FS 68 about 7 miles beyond Prospect; continue 2 miles to the TH at Woodruff Bridge. EDT: 90 minutes. Description: Follow the river upstream from Woodruff Bridge; go 3.5 miles to Natural Bridge for lunch.  Return to TH viewing Fall Colors along the river. Distance: 7 miles; elevation gain: 300 ft. Weather forecast. RT driving mileage: 140 miles.

October 10: Upper Rogue - Casey Park through and past MacGregor Park Below the William Jess Dam 10-10-22 New Monday Hike
TH: 29 miles up Highway 62 from I-5 to right into Casey State Park. Description: An upstream hike along the Upper Rogue River beginning at Casey State Park and going through MacGregor Park to the viewpoint of William Jess Dam power station. Do lunch during the return hike. 4+ miles, can add a mile below Casey State Park on the way back.  Weather forecast. RT mileages: 90 miles.

October 17: East Applegate Ridge
TH: Head up I-5 to exit 24, Phoenix. Left into Phoenix and then right on OR-99. Turn left onto Stage Road then for left on Griffin Lane.  In about a mile turn right onto West Griffin Creek Road for 2.9 miles which becomes Poormans Creek Road for another 1.1 miles to a T junction and left onto Sterling Creek Road. Go 4 miles to the 4 mile marker and the trail is well marked 100 feet past the sign.  6.5 miles total with lunch on top then back to parking. About 1,000' gain. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 70 miles

October 24: Cathedral Hills Leave at 8:30 AM
TH: North on I-5 to exit 55, US-199 South / Redwood Highway. Follow US-199 south for 2.8 miles to a left onto OR-238 for 2.8 miles to a left onto Espey Road for 0.3 miles to a left to stay on Espey Road for 0.3 miles to the TH.  EDT: 1 hour.
Description: Cathedral Hills is a large complex of intertwining trails with ups and downs. Hike 5 miles. Ascent up to 800 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 100 miles.

October 31: Grizzly Peak
TH: Up DIM 6.5 miles to left onto Shale City Road, to Left at Grizzly Peak sign, 3 miles out to parking.
Description: Up flowered trail through forest to top. Hike trail clockwise, stop for views down into the valley and surrounding mountains. 5.5 miles RT, 1,200' gain. Can stop at Rogue Valley Roasting Co. (8th & Main) for beer under canopy. Weather forecast. 30 miles RT.
