June 6: Roxy Ann Peak
TH: North on I-5 to Exit 24. Right on North Phoenix Road, Right on Cherry Lane, Right on Hillcrest, Left on Roxy Ann Road to upper parking by Porta Potties. EDT: 30 minutes.
Description: Follow trail and roads up to the summit, for 360 degree views of valley and mountains. Enjoy Spring flowers (Blue Camus). 5 miles RT, 1,000' gain. Visit Roxy Ann Winery post hike. Weather forecast. Mileage: 30 miles RT.
June 13: Castle Lake (CA) to Heart Lake Leave Rite Aid 8:00 AM New hike
TH; South on I-5 to Exit 738, the central Mount Shasta exit. Right on West Lake Rd, Left on W A Barr Road (10 miles), Left on Castle Lake Road to parking and TH at the road end. EDT: 1:40.
Description: Walk out to Castle Lake, hike trail west to Heart Lake (may continue to Little Castle Lake) return to TH, 5 miles RT, 1,000' gain. Can stop at Siskiyou Lake post hike for refreshments. Weather forecast. RT mileage. 170 miles.
June 20: Grizzly Peak
TH: Up DIM 6.5 miles to left onto Shale City Road, to Left at Grizzly Peak sign, 3 miles out to parking.
Description: Up flowered trail through forest to top. Hike trail clockwise, stop for views down into the valley and surrounding mountains. 5.5 miles RT, 1,200' gain. Can stop at Rogue Valley Roasting Co. (8th & Main) for beer under canopy. Weather forecast. 30 miles RT.
June 27: Deadfall Lakes, Mt Eddy(CA). Leave Rite Aid at 8:00 AM.
TH:South on I-5 and take Exit 751 (about 1.5 miles after rest area at Weed airport). Right on Old Highway 99; Right at stop sign, then left onto Stewart Springs Road; after 4 miles turn right onto Road 17 for 9.3 miles to the PCT crossing with parking lot on left. Description: Walk uphill 3 miles along PCT to Middle Deadfall Lake; continue uphill another 1.5 miles to Upper Deadfall Lake, Continue up to the ridge. (Hike to Summit Optional) Distance: RT 9.1 miles, 1,400' gain (2,000' to summit). Weather forecast. RT mileage:155 miles.
