Leave from the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street promptly at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sun-screen, insect repellent and rain gear as appropriate. In winter, bring layers. TH = trailhead; EDT = estimated drive time; RT = round trip mileage; PCT = Pacific Crest Trail; DIM = Dead Indian Memorial Highway.  Vaccination against COVID19 is required. May 6: Upper Rogue Trail: Rogue Gorge to Natural Bridge

TH: Take Highway 62 towards Crater Lake and make a left into the parking lot at Rogue River Gorge Viewpoint just past Becky's Cafe. EDT: 1:20.
Description: Follow the river downstream and cross Union Creek and later turn right over the Bridge to Nowhere. Cross the Rogue and continue on the other side to Natural Bridge. Lunch at Natural Bridge and then return via the Union Creek Trail which starts at the parking. Distance: 7 miles; 800 feet in ascents. Weather forecast. RT driving mileage: 140 miles.

May 13: Greenstone TH to Anderson Ridge Hike leader: Mike Sanson
TH: I-5 to the Phoenix Exit and left to Highway 99. Turn right and proceed to Stage Road and go left. Continue on Stage Road to the end and turn left at the T junction on Griffin Lane. Drive past the school and go straight past both Pioneer Road and West Griffin Creek Road, continuing straight for about 2 miles until you see a left marked Griffin Creek Road (confusing but correct).  Left onto the paved Griffin Creek Road and it will soon turn into the paved Anderson Butte Road which continues about 5 miles up to 4,500 feet elevation. The pavement ends and there is a sign on the right marked Griffen TH. Continue straight on FS Rd 39-2-8. Do not go left on Anderson Butte Road. In one mile you will come to a big pile of dirt on the right and Greenstone TH markers across the road on the hill. EDT: 45 minutes. Description: The trail ascends through old growth forest to the ridge and along the ridge another 2 miles to the Anderson Ridge TH. Distance 6.4 miles. Approximately 1,000 feet of climb.  Weather forecast. RT Mileage 50 miles.

May 20: Mike's "All Dirt" cross Ashland hike and lunch Hike leader: Mike Sanson
TH: Leave shuttle car at Rite Aid. Car pool up Tollman Creek Road. Turn right on Green Meadows Way, turn left on Lupin to Oredson-Todd Woods TH parking. EDT: 10 minutes. The route follows these trails: Oredson-Todd, White Rabbit, Mike Uhtoff, below Dr. Epstein's fence, Red Queen, Witzend, Upper Lithia Park and ends at Pioneer Street. Lunch at Louie's. Bus back to Rite Aid shuttle car to retrieve cars at trailhead. Approximately 8 miles/500' gain. Bring a dollar for the bus. Weather forecast.  RT mileage: 10 miles.

May 27: Boccard Point  Hike leader: Dan
TH: From Highway 66 turn onto Soda Mountain Road just before reaching Greensprings Summit; Proceed some 5 miles to the PCT crossing right after passing under power lines for the second time. EDT: 45 minutes.  Description: Incredible views from Mt. Shasta and Pilot Rock to Mt. McLoughlin. Follow the PCT for about 2 miles and turn left for a short bushwhack down to the trail to Boccard Point.  Distance: about 7 miles, elevation gain: about 1,200 feet.  Weather Forecast  RT mileage: 40 miles.
