Leave from the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sunscreen and rain gear as appropriate. October 6: East Boulder Lake - (p. 232 in 100 Hikes)  Leave at 8:00 AM
TH: South on I-5 to Yreka Exit 773 and take Highway 3 for 39 miles through Fort Jones and Etna to Callahan. Right in Callahan (behind the Emporium Saloon) on South Fork Road for 0.7 miles then straight on McKeen Road (40N17) for 2.3 miles to the McKeen Divide. Left (SE) on 39N63 (Boulder) for 2.9 miles, left on 39N10 for 1.2 miles and right (SE but not a uey) on 39N66 for 0.8 miles to the TH. EDT: 1:45. Beautiful hike in the Scott Mountains of the Trinity Alps Wilderness past East Boulder Lake and several smaller alpine lakes / ponds up to the ridge with views of Craggy Peak, Mt. Shasta, Mt. Eddy, Scott Valley and the Russian Wilderness. Distance: 9 miles. Climbing: 2,500'.  Weather forecast. RT mileage: 170 miles.

October 13: Abbott Butte from the Huckleberry Gap TH (p. 89 in 100 Hikes) - Meet 8:00 AM Hike Leader: Keeley Kirkendal
TH: Take Highway 62 towards Crater Lake past the 51 mile marker; turn left onto Woodruff Meadows Road #68 12.8 miles (last 7.7 mi are one-lane gravel); EDT: 105 minutes. Description: pleasant woods and flower-filled meadows, great views on the way to lunch below the abandoned lookout tower on top of Abbott Butte; return the same way RT: distance: 7.5 miles; elevation gain: 1,800 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 170 miles

October 19: Blue Lake Basin (p. 112 in 100 Hikes) Leave at 8:30 AM.
TH: Take DIM to its end point at Highway 140; turn right (east); after 3.1 miles go left on FS 3651 8.2 miles; turn left onto FS 3659 1.2 miles to parking area at TH; EDT: 90 minutes. Description: Hike through Sky Lakes Wilderness Area to Blue Lake; return same way. Distance: 10.6 miles RT; elevation gain: moderate, since this is a gently undulating trail. Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 110 miles.

October 27: Lake Alta - Sky Lakes Wilderness Leave at 8:00 AM.
TH: Up I-5 to Highway 62 in Medford. Up Highway 62 for 14. 6 miles to the Butte Falls Road. Into Butte Falls and then right on Laurel Avenue for 0.2 miles and then left onto the Butte Falls Fish Lake road for 0.6 miles. Left on the Butte Falls Prospect Road for 8.8 miles and Right on Lodgepole Road 34 for 8.5 miles. Straight on 37 for 0.4 miles and then veer right onto gravel Road 3780 for 4.1 miles to the TH. EDT 1:40. Description: Head up past Frog Lake to Lake Alta and then up to the ridge overlook of the Seven Lakes Basin for lunch. Return the same way. Distance: 8 miles; climbing: 2,000'. Weather Forecast. RT mileage 150 miles.
