Leave from the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sunscreen and rain gear as appropriate. October 6: Taylor Lake to Albert Lake - New Hike - Leave at 8:00 AM
TH: Take I-5 south to Exit 773 - Fort Jones (1 mile south of Yreka); follow Highway 3 for 27 miles to Etna; make a right from Collier Way onto Main Street / Sawers Bar Road and continue about 10 miles over Etna Summit and down to the Taylor Lake turn off.  Turn left towards Taylor Lake and park in the TH parking area; EDT: 1:30. Description: Head down the trail on the east side of Taylor Lake.  Then head up the steep canyon and follow the PCT to Paynes Lake.  We will have the option of climbing up another 500 feet to Albert Lake for lunch. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 160 miles.

October 13: Blue Lake Basin (p. 112 in 100 Hikes) Leave at 8:00 AM.
TH: Take DIM to its end point at Highway 140; turn right (east); after 3.1 miles go left on FS 3651 8.2 miles; turn left onto FS 3659 1.2 miles to parking area at TH; EDT: 90 minutes. Description: Hike through Sky Lakes Wilderness Area to Blue Lake; return same way. Distance: 10.6 miles RT; elevation gain: moderate, since this is a gently undulating trail. Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 110 miles.

October 20: PCT from Greensprings Summit to Hobart Bluff (p. 130 in 101 Hikes) Leave at 9:00 AM Hike leader: Francie
TH: Drive Highway 66 14.5 miles to PCT crossing at Greensprings Summit. EDT: 45 minutes. Description: Follow the PCT for 3.3 miles through the woods and along the crest to the "Hobart Bluff Viewpoint" sign; turn right 0.3 miles to top of bluff; enjoy 360 degree views and lunch before returning the same way. Distance: 7+ miles; elevation gain: 2,000 feet of climbing; Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 40 miles.

October 27: Boccard Point  Leave at 9:00 AM Hike leader: Barry
TH: From Highway 66 turn onto Soda Mountain Road just before reaching Greensprings Summit; Proceed some 5 miles to the PCT crossing right after passing under power lines for the second time. EDT: 45 minutes.  Description: Incredible views from Mt. Shasta and Pilot Rock to Mt. McLoughlin. Follow the PCT for about 3 miles and turn left to follow a trail towards Boccard Point.  We will have lunch at Boccard Point and have the option of finding Little Pilot Peak on the way back to the cars (adds about ½ mile).  Distance: about 10 miles, elevation gain: about 1,500 feet.  Weather Forecast  RT mileage: 40 miles.
