Leave from the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sunscreen and rain gear as appropriate. July 7: Wagner Butte (p. 140 in 100 Hikes) Leave at 8:00 AM
TH: From Talent make a left onto Rapp Road and continue on to Wagner Creek Road. From the start of gravel continue 2.3 miles to a left to stay on Wagner Creek Road. Continue another 3.6 miles, making a left after crossing the cattle grate, to the TH which is 1.9 miles past the cattle grate. EDT: 45 minutes. Description: uphill most of the way, but great flower displays and spectacular panoramic views from the top. Distance: 10.4 miles RT; elevation gain: 2,800 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 40 miles.

July 14: PCT Above Taylor Lake (Russian Wilderness) (p. 202 in 100 Hikes) Leave at 8:00 AM
TH: Take I-5 south to Exit 773 - Fort Jones (1 mile south of Yreka); follow Highway 3 for 27 miles to Etna; make a right from Collier Way onto Main Street / Sawers Bar Road and continue 9.4 miles to Etna Summit; EDT: 1:30. Description: follow the PCT along a view-packed ridge crest to the Taylor Lake overlook. Return the same way. Distance: 7+ miles RT; elevation gain: 2,500 ft. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 160 miles.

July 21: Mt. Eddy (opposite Mt Shasta in California) (p. 210 in 100 Hikes) -Leave at 8:00 AM.
TH: Drive south on I-5 and take Stewart Springs Road exit (about 1.5 miles after passing rest area next to Weed); turn right at both stop signs, then left onto Stewart Springs Road; after 4 miles, turn right onto Road 17 for 9.3 miles to the upper / PCT TH. Drop the hikers here and then position a shuttle car 1.3 miles further on down the road at the hairpin curve at the lower TH. EDT: 105 minutes. Description: Wildflower heaven, inviting lakes, spectacular views of Mt Shasta; alternate turn around point is the ridge top before the long, barren slog to the summit. Distance: 10 miles; elevation gain to summit 2,200 feet, to ridge 1,400 ft. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 150 miles.

July 28: Hidden Valley - Mt. Shasta Leave at 8:00 AM
TH: Take the first Mt. Shasta Exit (mile 740). East on Mt. Shasta Blvd. to the first left and then right on Ski Village Drive over to a left onto Everitt Memorial Highway up to Bunny Flat. EDT: 90 min; Description: Hike up to Horse Camp and the Sierra Club lodge to pick up the Mt. Shasta Circumnavigation Trail.  From there head up sandy forested slopes to the pinnacle overlooking Hidden Valley and the high mountain grandeur of Shasta and Shastina. Poles are useful on this hike because much of the trail above Horse Camp is over boulders and scree. 6 miles, 2,300 feet of climbing. Weather forecast.
