Leave from the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street promptly at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sun-screen and rain gear. October 4: Fall Colors: Upper Rogue River Trail: Woodruff Creek to Bridge To Nowhere RT (p. 92 in 100 Hikes) - Leave at 8:30 AM 
TH: Take Highway 62 towards Crater Lake and make a left onto FS 68 about 7 miles beyond Prospect; continue 2 miles to the TH at Woodruff Bridge. EDT: 90 minutes. Description: Follow the river upstream from Woodruff Bridge; go one mile beyond Natural Bridge to the Bridge to Nowhere; cross the bridge and go right a short distance to our lunch spot at Viani Falls; then return on lunch side of river to Natural Bridge. Distance: 9 miles; elevation gain: 300 ft. Weather forecast. RT driving mileage: 140 miles.

October 11: Lower Rogue River Trail: Grave Creek to Whiskey Creek RT Leave at 8:30 
TH: Take I-5 north to the Merlin Exit (Exit 61). Head west thru Merlin and follow the Galice Road for 19 miles to the far side of the Grave Creek bridge; turn left downhill to the boat ramp parking area and the TH. EDT: 90 minutes. Description: Follow the north rim of the Rogue River canyon past Rainie Falls to Whiskey Creek; we can view the historic Whiskey Creek cabin and use it for shelter if it is raining. Distance: 7 miles; elevation gain: 1,270 feet. Weather forecast RT driving mileage: 140 miles.

October 18: East Applegate Ridge: Leave at 9:00 AM.
TH: Head up I-5 to exit 24, Phoenix. Left into Phoenix and then right on OR-99. Turn left onto Stage Road then left on Griffin Lane.  In about a mile turn right onto West Griffin Creek Road for 2.9 miles which becomes Poorman’s Creek Road for another 1.1 miles to a T junction and left onto Sterling Creek Road. Go 2.8 miles to the 4 mile marker and turn right onto BLM dirt road 38-2-29.1  and go 0.6 miles to the parking area and the trailhead.  We will do an out and back of about 7 miles with about 800' gain. Exceptional views.  Weather forecast. RT mileage: 70 miles.
