Our Guidelines and Instructions:
Covid19 precautions: Fully vaccinated hikers; Masks handy for proximity to others; Carpooling by personal choice (share gas $); post-hike Refreshments outside.

Leave from the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street promptly at 8:30 AM unless otherwise indicated in a specific hike description. Plan for a full day, unless remaining close to town. Hikes will be easy/light moderate (6-7 miles when at lower elevations and limited climbing; otherwise, closer to 5 miles). Easy pace. Stay together for shared safety and enjoyment.  Bring lunch, lots of liquids, sunscreen, bug repellent, hat). A pole or two, recommended. Feel free to bring a short poem or other form of inspiration to share at lunch, if you like.

Our Friday Hikes have 3 features (expectations): Moderate pace, Mutual support (by staying together), and Peaceful trail conversation focused on observations and information about our surroundings.

August 13: Grouse Gap to Siskiyou Peak
TH: Take Mt. Ashland exit 6 off I-5; turn right on Mount Ashland Ski Road to the ski area, then drive another 2 miles on FS20 to PCT at Grouse Gap. Instead of turning left to the shelter, park the cars. EDT: 40 minutes. Distance: 50 miles RT.
Description: Follow the PCT 2.7 miles. Before the PCT starts to descend near the trail summit, turn left and walk up through the field and up further to the summit of Siskiyou Peak for lunch. Fabulous views. Return same way. August 27: Little Pilot Peak
TH: From Highway 66 turn onto Soda Mountain Road just before reaching Greensprings Summit. Drive dirt road about 5 miles to the PCT crossing, just after passing under the power lines for the second time.   EDT: 45 minutes. RT Driving Distance: 40 miles.  
Description: We will hike south on the PCT in the Soda Mountain direction for a spur up to Little Pilot Peak for remarkable views.  Distance about 4.5 miles; elevation gain: 660 feet. 7-Day Forecast for Latitude 42.05°N and Longitude 122.5°W (Elev. 5112 ft) (weather.gov)
