October 8: Parks Creek TH to Cement Bluff . Leave at 8:00 AM.
TH: Drive south on I-5 and take Stewart Springs Road exit (about 1.5 miles after rest area across from Weed airport); turn right at stop sign, then left onto Stewart Springs Road; after 4 miles turn right onto Road 17 for 9.3 miles to the PCT crossing.
Description: Cross the road from the parking area and continue on the PCT for about 5 miles around a deep valley to a cliff overlooking Bluff Lake. Distance 10 miles. Mostly Level. Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 150 miles.
October 15: Lower Rogue River Trail: Grave Creek to Whisky Creek RT Leave at 8:30 AM
TH: Take I-5 north to Merlin (Exit 60); drive thru Merlin and follow Galice Road 19 miles to far side of Grave Creek bridge; turn left downhill to the boat ramp parking and the TH; EDT: 90 min. Description: Follow north rim of Rogue River canyon past Rainie Falls to Whiskey Creek; return same way; Bring plenty of water and a good hat; we have had some problems with overheating on this hike. Distance: 7 miles; elevation gain: 1,270 feet. Weather forecast RT driving mileage: 140 miles.
October 22: East Applegate Ridge
TH: Head up I-5 to exit 24, Phoenix. Left into Phoenix and then right on OR-99. Turn left onto Stage Road then for left on Griffin Lane. In about a mile turn right onto West Griffin Creek Road for 2.9 miles which becomes Poorman’s Creek Road for another 1.1 miles to a T junction and left onto Sterling Creek Road. Go 4 miles to the 4 mile marker and the trail is well marked 100 feet past the sign. We will do an out and back of about 7.5 miles with about 800 feet of climb. Exceptional views. EDT: 35 minutes. October 29: Flower hike in the Enchanted Forest to the Felton Memorial
TH: Thru Jacksonville and take Highway 238 towards Applegate for 15 miles. Just before downtown Applegate and the bridge, make a right onto North Applegate Road for 4.5 miles to a right on Kubli Road for 400' and then right on Slagle Creek Road for 1.5 miles to the pavement end at the TH. EDT: 60 minutes. Description: Take the Enchanted Forest trail about 0.8 miles to a signed right over to the Felton Memorial. The memorial honors 3 men killed in a timber related helicopter crash in 1993. Distance: 5 miles. Climbing: 600'. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 80 miles.
