Leave from the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street promptly at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sun-screen, insect repellent and rain gear as appropriate. In winter, bring layers. TH = trailhead; EDT = estimated drive time; RT = round trip mileage; PCT = Pacific Crest Trail; DIM = Dead Indian Memorial Highway.  Vaccination against COVID19 is required. November 5: Tunnel Ridge TH to Little Applegate TH
TH: Head up I-5 to exit 24, Phoenix. Left into Phoenix and then right on OR-99. Turn left onto Stage Road then for left on Griffin Lane.  In about a mile turn right onto West Griffin Creek Road for 2.9 miles which becomes Poormans Creek Road for another 1.1 miles to a T junction and left onto Sterling Creek Road. Continue to Little Applegate Road, and turn left. Continue to the Tunnel Gulch TH and leave the hikers and then position a shuttle car at the Little Applegate TH.  EDT: 50 minutes. Description: Trail starts out uphill, finishes downhill. Good views of the Siskiyous. 500 feet elevation gain from the TH to the Mine Ditch. Another 500 feet of ascent to our viewpoint. About 1,150 total ascent and 6.2 miles. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 80 Miles from from Rite Aid to the East Applegate TH where we leave the shuttle.

November 12: Taylor Creek Leave 8:15 AM
TH: North on I-5 to Merlin Exit 61 just after Grants Pass. Turn left and go 12.2 miles to a left turn for Briggs Valley Road / Taylor Creek Road / NF-25 which is 1/2 mile past milepost 8. Head up NF-25 for about 3 miles and leave a shuttle car at English Flat which is the first trailhead just beyond the gorge overlook. Drive about 9 more miles up NF-25 to Lone Tree Pass Trailhead on the left which is clearly marked at Road 2509 junction. Description: This 7.2 mile hike follows Taylor Creek from south to north as it descends to the Illinois valley. Elevation loss 1,100 feet but ups and downs along the way with some hills to climb. Estimated drive time: 1 hour 20 minutes. Weather forecast. RT mileage 140 miles.

November 19: Hyatt Lake to Greensprings Summit Leave 8:15 AM
TH: From Rite Aid take Highway 66 15.1 miles to Greensprings Summit and leave a shuttle car. Continue on another 1.8 miles to a left at Greensprings Inn onto East Hyatt Lake Road for 3 miles to the PCT crossing. EDT: 45 minutes. Description: Walk along the PCT thru flower-filled woods and meadows. Stop for pictures at Little Hyatt Lake. Lunch at the 21 man log. Big views of Emigrant Lake and Mount Ashland. Distance: 7.4 miles; elevation gain: 1,200 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 50 miles.
