March 4: Kelsey Creek to Maple Falls (p. 45 in Best Hikes of the Marble and Russian Wilderness Areas) Leave at 8:00 AM.
TH: Take I-5 to Yreka Exit 773 and follow Highway 3 to Fort Jones. Right on the Scott River Road for 17 miles. Past the Kelsey Guard Station and just before Bridge Flat the road crosses the Scott River. Immediately past the bridge go left on Kelsey Creek Road for 1/2 mile. Do not cross the second bridge but continue straight past the house to the roomy trailhead. EDT 90 minutes. Description: The Kelsey Trail was built by the army in the middle 1800s as a supply line from Crescent City to Ft. Jones. Follow Kelsey Creek to Maple Falls. Distance 9 miles; climbing 2,200'. March 11: Union Creek Trail (p.88 in 100 Hikes) Meet at 8:30 AM
TH: Take Highway 62 north from Medford to Union Creek; EDT: 90 minutes. Description: This is a scenic, "generally level", 4-mile trail along a lovely brook. Distance: 8.2 miles; elevation gain: 600 feet. Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 150 miles.
March 18: Sterling Mine Ditch Trail: South from Armstrong Gulch (100 Hikes, p. 152)
TH: Up I-5 to Exit 21, Talent. Over to a right onto Highway 99. In 2.1 miles left onto Colver Road for 1.9 miles to a left onto Pioneer. in 2 miles make a right to stay on Pioneer to a left at the T to stay on Pioneer. Left at the T onto Griffin Creek Road for 0.2 miles to a bear right onto West Griffin Creek Road and continue onto Poor Mans Creek Road. At the T, left onto Sterling Creek Road for 7.4 miles to a left onto 39-2-8. Up the hill, bearing right on 32-2-17, for 0.9 miles to the TH. EDT: 45 minutes.
Description: Follow the Sterling Mine Ditch trail 3.5-4 miles till lunch time, then retrace route; great views if the weather is clear.

March 25: Bull Gap Loop - Snowshoe Trip.
TH: Take Highway I-5 South to Exit 6, the Mt. Ashland ski road. Up the ski road to the Bull Gap turn off. Sno-Park permit required; passengers should help pay for it. EDT: 30 minutes. Description: We are going to do a loop; out on the Bull Gap Road, down the PCT and back via an old logging road and the Bull Gap Road. We should be done early, so plan to have lunch at an Ashland restaurant of the group's choice. Distance: 3.5 miles; elevation gain: 650 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 30 miles.
