Leave from the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sunscreen and rain gear as appropriate. February 6: Deadwood Nordic Area Snowshoe
TH: follow DIM 22 miles to Deadwood Sno-Park (junction with FS Road 37); Sno-Park permit required; passengers should help pay for it. EDT: 45 min; Description: follow FS 37 about 2 miles to the Daley Creek campground; Follow skid roads to make a loop returning to FS 37. Distance: 5 miles; elevation gain: 425 feet. Howard Prairie SNOTEL. Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 50 miles

February 13: Lewis Loop - Ashland Watershed
TH: From Rite Aid head west on Ashland Street, bear right on Siskiyou Boulevard, at the light just past Triangle park turn left on Morton, then a quick right on Iowa up to the top, left on Terrace up to the reservoir on Waterline. EDT: 10 minutes. Description: Head up Red Queen, Lizard and Lewis Loop trails up to the summit of Lamb Butte in the Ashland Watershed. Nice views of Grizzly, McLoughlin, Wagner, Mt. Ashland, and McDonald Peak. Distance: 8 miles. Elevation gain: 1,800. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 10 miles.

February 20: Castle Crags to Indian Springs via the Flume Trail ( p. 214 in 100 Hikes) Leave at 8:00 AM
TH: South on I-5 to Exit 724, Castella. Right on Castle Creek Road to the state park entrance. Entrance fee is $7 per car for seniors. Park in the lot across from the entrance station behind the island. EDT: 75 minutes. We are going to take the Flume Trail up to the PCT and then the Crags Trail to the Indian Springs vista point below Castle Dome. After lunch we will go back down the Crags Trail to Bob's Hat trail back to the cars. Distance: 9 miles; elevation gain about 2,000' Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 180 miles

February 27: Buck Prairie I Snowshoe
TH: Take DIM about 18 miles to Buck Prairie I Sno-Park. Sno-Park Permit required; passengers should help pay for it. EDT: 30 minutes. Description: Do a loop via Buck Prairie Road, Bullwinkle's Run, Wayback, and Peabody's cross-country ski trails. Distance: 5 miles; elevation gain: 900 feet. Weather Forecast. Howard Prairie SNOTEL. RT mileage: 40 miles
