Leave from the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street promptly at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sun-screen and rain gear. TH = trailhead; EDT = estimated drive time; RT = round trip mileage; PCT = Pacific Crest Trail; DIM = Dead Indian Memorial Highway.

November 4: Wolf Gap to Armstrong Gulch: Head up I-5 to exit 24, Phoenix. Left into Phoenix and then right on OR-99. Left onto Stage Road then left onto Griffin Creek Road. In one mile turn right on Griffen Creek Road and continue to a T Junction at Sterling Creek Road. Left on Sterling Creek and between Miles 9 and 10 look for a small TH sign on the right indicating a left turn to the THs. At the next trail signs, go straight to Armstrong Gulch TH and leave a shuttle car, returning to the trail signs to turn right as indicated towards Deming Gulch and Wolf Gap on 39-2-8, another 2 1/2 miles. EDT: 50 minutes. Description: Trail starts out downhill for 1.5 miles to the Sterling Mine Ditch, then right 6.8 miles slightly downhill to Armstrong Gulch. Distance: 8.3 miles; elevation loss: 800 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 70 miles.

November 11: Kangaroo Lake to Bull Lake Leave at 8:00 AM
TH: Head South on I-5 to exit 766 (Gazelle). Turn left (south) on Highway 99 for 7 miles to Gazelle. Turn Right in Gazelle onto the Gazelle Callahan Highway. Drive 18 miles to left turn for Kangaroo Lake (clearly marked) on Rail Creek Road. The TH parking for Fen Trail is on the left in 6.8 miles, just before the main Kangaroo Lake Parking. The TH is just across the Road. EDT: 1:35. Description: Climb to the saddle beyond Kangaroo Lake and down a short distance to the PCT. Turn left on the PCT and follow it all the way to Bull Lake. Overlooks include entire marble mountains, Trinity Alps and Siskiyou mountains as well as Kangaroo Lake, Robber Meadows, Bull Lake, Shasta and Mount Eddy. Destination Elevation: 7,080 feet. Distance: 8 miles; Elevation Gain :1,200 feet. Total Ascent: 1,400 feet. Optional descent to Bull Lake adds 1 mile and roughly 300 feet of ascent. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 150 miles.

November 18: Panther Point (Applegate Lake)   
TH: Take Highway 238 from Jacksonville to Ruch (8 miles); take Upper Applegate Road 15 miles to Applegate Dam; drive left across dam to the Dagelma TH: (2.5 miles); EDT: 60 min. Description: Take Osprey trail to Payette trail and continue along the lake shore to Hal’s Point for lunch; return the same way. Alternate return destination using a shuttle up to hike leader. Distance: 7.5 miles; elevation gain: 750 feet. Weather forecast. RT driving mileage: 80 miles.

November 25: Grizzly Peak / Ashland Watershed
TH: Left on Highway 66 for 0.8 miles to a left onto Dead Indian Memorial Highway for 6.7 miles to a left onto Shale City Road and follow the Grizzly Peak Trail signs: 3 miles on pavement, 2 miles on dirt.  EDT: 30 minutes. Description: great views over the Rogue Valley. Distance: 5 miles; elevation gain: 1,200 ft. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 30 miles.
