Leave from the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street promptly at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sun-screen and rain gear. TH = trailhead; EDT = estimated drive time; RT = round trip mileage; PCT = Pacific Crest Trail; DIM = Dead Indian Memorial Highway.

December 2: Sterling Mine Ditch Trail: Bear Gulch TH to the little Applegate TH (100 Hikes, p. 152)
TH: Head up I-5 to exit 24, Phoenix. Left into Phoenix and then right on OR-99. Turn left onto Stage Road then left on Griffin Lane.  In about a mile turn right onto West Griffin Creek Road for 2.9 miles which becomes Poormans Creek Road for another 1.1 miles to a T junction and left onto Sterling Creek Road. Continue to Little Applegate Road, about 9 miles, and turn left. Continue to the Bear Gulch TH and leave the hikers and then position the cars another 2.4 miles east at the Little Applegate TH. Return the drivers using a shuttle car to the Bear Gulch TH to begin the hike. EDT: 50 minutes. Description: Trail starts out uphill, finishes downhill. Good views of the Siskiyous to the south and coastal ranges to the west; Distance: 9.2 miles; elevation gain: 1,100 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 70 miles.

December 9: Lithia Park Loop Hike Leader: Rich Stickle
Given December weather we are organizing a Monday hike that will be more like a long walk in the park. Lithia Park. Rich Stickle will lead us up the Park and beyond and we will end the circuit with a civilized lunch at Bricktown on the Plaza. You probably don't need a pack but may want flexibility in clothing. Weather forecast. The meeting place will be the band shell parking lot at 9:30 AM. Call John at 541-630-0026 if you can't find us.

December 16: Ashland City Loop Hike Starts at 9:30
TH: We will be starting at the Dawson home. Drive up Liberty Street from Siskiyou Boulevard and park in the 600 block of Liberty.  From there walk up to 818 Liberty for the start of the hike. Description: Through the Liberty Street Park up Terrace Street to the water tank then up the new Red Queen trail to the Bandersnatch trail. We'll follow Bandersnatch down into Lithia Park and over to Louie's for lunch. Then take streets and trails back to the TH. Six miles round trip with about 1,500 ft gain. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 6 miles.
