April 1: Sterling Mine Ditch Trail: North from Armstrong Gulch to the end of Sterling Mine Ditch
TH: Head up I-5 to exit 24, Phoenix. Left into Phoenix and then right on OR-99. Left onto Stage Road then left onto Griffin Lane. Continue on Griffin Lane to Sterling Creek Road 2-3 miles - Griffin Lane is a good dirt road. Left on Sterling Creek and between Miles 9 and 10 look for a small TH sign on the right indicating a left turn to the THs. At the next trail signs, go straight to Armstrong Gulch TH. EDT: 40 minutes. Description: Take the TH on the left (north) side of the parking area 1/2 mile up to the Sterling Mine Ditch, then left 3 miles slightly downhill to the end of the Mine Ditch. Return the same way. Distance: 7 miles. Elevation gain: 400 feet of climbing.  Weather forecast. RT mileage: 70 miles

April 8: East Applegate Ridge:
TH: Head up I-5 to exit 24, Phoenix. Left into Phoenix and then right on OR-99. Turn left onto Stage Road then for left on Griffin Lane.  In about a mile turn right onto West Griffin Creek Road for 2.9 miles which becomes Poorman’s Creek Road for another 1.1 miles to a T junction and left onto Sterling Creek Road. Go 4 miles to the 4 mile marker and the trail is well marked 100 feet past the sign. We will do an out and back of about 7.5 miles with about 800 feet of climb. Exceptional views. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 70 miles.

April 15: Upper Table Rock
TH: Follow Table Rock Road (off Biddle Rd in Central Point) for 5.2 mi; turn right on Modoc Road for 1.5 mi to trailhead parking area; EDT: 45 min. Description: Follow the trail to the top of the mesa, then walk along Meadowlark Lane past the radar station to the Sam’s Valley overlook; return to the frog pond for lunch. Distance: 7 mi; elevation gain: 800 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 50 miles

April 22: Wolf Gap to Armstrong Gulch: Head up I-5 to exit 24, Phoenix. Left into Phoenix and then right on OR-99. Left onto Stage Road then left onto Griffin Lane. Continue on Griffin Lane to Sterling Creek Road 2-3 miles of it is a good dirt road. Left on Sterling Creek and between Miles 9 and 10 look for a small TH sign on the right indicating a left turn to the THs. At the next trail signs, go straight to Armstrong Gulch TH and leave a shuttle, returning to the trail signs to turn right as indicated towards Deming Gulch and Wolf Gap on 39-2-8, another 2 ½ miles. EDT: 50 minutes. Description: Trail starts out downhill for 1.5 miles to the Sterling Mine Ditch, then right 6.8 miles slightly downhill to Armstrong Gulch. Distance: 8.3 miles; elevation loss: 800 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 70 miles.

April 29th- Greenstone TH to Anderson Ridge TH. Jack-Ash Trail - Staggered Departures - More difficult option: 8:00 AM, Hike leader: Rich Stickle. Easier option: 9:00 AM, Hike leader: John Kerr.
TH: I-5 to Phoenix Exit and left to Highway 99. Turn right and proceed to Stage Road and go left. Continue on Stage Road to the end and turn left at the T junction on Griffen Lane. Drive past the school and go straight past both Pioneer Road and Griffen Creek Road, continuing straight for about 2 miles until you see a left marked Griffen Creek Road (confusing but correct).  Left onto the paved Griffen Creek Road and it will soon turn into the paved Anderson Butte Road which continues about 5 miles up to 4,500 feet elevation. The pavement ends and there is a sign on the right marked Griffen TH. Continue straight on FS Rd 39-2-8. Do not go left on Anderson Butte Road. In one mile you will come to a big pile of dirt on the right and Greenstone TH markers across the road on the hill. EDT: 45 minutes. Description: For those doing the easier 9:00 AM departure the trail ascends through old growth forest to the ridge and along the ridge another 2 miles to Anderson Ridge TH. Distance 6.4 miles. Approximately 1,000 feet of climb. Those choosing the more difficult hike leaving at 8:00 AM will do the easier hike plus ascend to the former overlook. Approximately 1,300 feet of climb. Distance 7.9 miles. Weather forecast. RT Mileage 50 miles
