July 5: PCT from Mt Ashland Ski Road towards Grouse Gap
TH: Take Mt. Ashland Exit 6 off I-5; turn right onto Mt. Ashland Highway. The parking area for the PCT is just around the bend after the 7 mile road marker; EDT: 30 min. Description: Head west (PCT south) on the PCT towards Grouse Gap. Return the same way. Weather forecast. RT driving mileage: 40 miles.
July 19: Walk on the PCT Below Mt. Ashland and visit the McDonald Peak Botanical Special Interest Area New Wildflower Walk
TH: Drive past the ski area back parking lot and continue on FS-20 for another 2.2 miles to the intersection with the PCT and the road to Grouse Gap. Estimated drive time: 50 minutes. Hike Description: Do an out and back on the PCT across the meadow towards the ski area and back. Then, when back at the cars continue on another 1 mile west on FS-20 to the Mt. Ashland - Siskiyou Peak Botanical Special Interest Area near McDonald Peak. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 60 miles.
