March 7: Summit Sno-Park Shelter - Snowshoe Trip New Snowshoe Hike Leader: Dan Stubblefield

Take Highway 62 to Highway 140; turn right & follow Highway 140 for 32.5 miles to the Summit Sno-Park. Sno-Park Permit required; passengers should help pay for it. EDT: 75 min. Description: We are going to check out some new (to us) trails at the Summit Sno-Park and visit the shelter on the McLoughlin trail. Out under Power Line, left for a 1/2 mile up Lower Canal, right on McLoughlin for 0.6 miles to a left up Petunia to our usual turn around point. Continue on Petunia for 0.7 miles to the junction with Big Mac and and then go another 0.2 miles to a right on McLoughlin down to the shelter. Then back to our usual turn around point to a left on Pitt View for 0.4 miles to a right on McLoughlin over to a left on Petunia back to Power Line and the Sno-Park. March 14: Bull Gap Loop - Snowshoe Trip. Hike Leader: Francie
TH: Take Highway I-5 South to Exit 6, the Mt. Ashland ski road. Up the ski road to the Bull Gap turn off. Sno-Park permit required; passengers should help pay for it.. EDT: 30 minutes. Description: We are going to do a loop; out on the Bull Gap Road, down the PCT and back via an old logging road and the Bull Gap Road. We should be done early, so plan to have lunch at an Ashland restaurant of the group's choice. Distance: 3.5 miles; elevation gain: 650 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 30 miles.
March 21: Sterling Mine Ditch Trail: south from Armstrong Gulch (100 Hikes, p. 152)
TH: Head up I-5 to exit 24, Phoenix. Left into Phoenix and then right on OR-99. In 3.4 miles turn left onto Griffin Creek Road for 1.2 miles to a right on West Griffin Creek Road for 2.9 miles to a straight onto Poormans Creek Road for 1.1 miles to a left onto Sterling Creek Road for 7.4 miles to a left onto 39-2-17 / Deming Gulch Road. At first road junction turn right for 1.2 miles to the Armstrong Gulch Road TH. EDT: 45 minutes. Description: Follow the Sterling Mine Ditch trail 3.5-4 miles till lunch time, then retrace route; great views if the weather is clear. Distance: 7-8 miles; elevation gain: 200 feet. March 28: Crater Lake Snowshoe - Leaving Rite Aid at 8:00 AM
TH: Park Headquarters, Crater Lake NP; EDT: 2 hours. Description: Head up the Raven Trail from the park headquarters parking lot to the rim. The trail is "generally uphill" (850' in 1.5 miles). Return the same way. You will get a nice workout and a wow moment when you crest the rim and see the lake. Don't forget your sunglasses and sun block. Safety first: please stay behind the tree line to avoid dropping off a cornice into the caldera. Distance: 3 miles RT; elevation gain: 630'. Annie Springs SNOTEL. Weather forecast.
