August 1: Donomore Meadows to Dutchman Peak - Leave at 8:00 AM. Hike leaders: Liz and Hank
TH: Turn at Ruch and head south for 9.3 miles. Just past the closed Country Club cross the bridge and take the second left onto Beaver Creek Road / FS 20. Up FS 20 for 14 miles to Silver Fork Gap. Cross the intersection and take the road at 11 o'clock which is FS 2025. Continue on FS 2025 for 4 miles to Donomore Gap and park on the right. EDT: 90 minutes. Description: Nice views on this walk along the PCT and great views from the Dutchman Peak lookout. Distance: 10 miles; elevation gain about 2,000 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 120 miles.

August 22: Wards Fork Gap to Buckhorn Springs Leave at 8:00 AM
TH: Down I-5 to Exit 786 / CA-96 Klamath River Highway. West on CA-96 for 17.7 miles to a right on Beaver Creek Road / NF 48N01. Up Beaver Creek Road for 5.5 miles to a left onto NF 47N01 just past the bridge and the sign for Wards Fork. Continue straight for 3.2 miles to a keep right at the Y. Continue following the best road at each intersection for another 6 miles to the TH. EDT: 1:40. Description: Richard suggested this hike for its spectacular views. Head southwest on the PCT with great views of Scraggy Mountain and Condrey Mountain. Lunch on the ridge above Buckhorn Springs and then return on NF-40S01 (which parallels the trail but with new and different views to the east) to its intersection with the PCT. Distance: 10.5 miles. August 29: Sky Lakes from the Cold Springs Trailhead (p 118 in 100 Hikes) Leave at 8:30 AM.
TH: Take DIM to 140, right (east) for 3.2 miles and then left (north) on 3651 for 10.1 miles to the TH at road end. EDT 75 minutes. Description: Loop trail into the Sky Lakes Wilderness passing a half dozen lakes. We are following the recovery of the forest after the 2017 fire. Distance: 8 miles, elevation gain 700 feet.
