April 2: Sterling Mine Ditch Trail: North from Armstrong Gulch (100 Hikes, p. 152) New hike
TH: Head up I-5 to exit 24, Phoenix. Left into Phoenix and then right on OR-99. Turn left onto Stage Road then for left on Griffin Lane. In about a mile turn right onto West Griffin Creek Road for 2.9 miles which becomes Poormans Creek Road for another 1.1 miles to a T junction and left onto Sterling Creek Road. Continue past the 8 mile marker and look for a small sign on the right directing you to the trailhead to the left on Deming Gulch Rd. You will come to a fork in the road with trail signs both ways. Continue another mile to the right to the well-marked trailhead. EDT: 45 minutes.
Description: Head up to the Sterling Mine Ditch trail and make a left to head north. Go 3.5-4 miles till lunch time, then retrace route; great views if the weather is clear. Distance: 7-8 miles; elevation gain: 200 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 70 miles
April 9: Upper Table Rock
TH: Follow Table Rock Road (off Biddle Rd in Central Point) for 5.2 mi; turn right on Modoc Road for 1.5 mi to trailhead parking area; EDT: 45 min.
Description: Follow the trail to the top of the mesa, then walk along Meadowlark Lane past the radar station to the Sam’s Valley overlook; return to the frog pond for lunch.
Distance: 7 mi; elevation gain: 800 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 50 miles
April 16: East Applegate Ridge New hike
TH: Head up I-5 to exit 24, Phoenix. Left into Phoenix and then right on OR-99. Turn left onto Stage Road then for left on Griffin Lane. In about a mile turn right onto West Griffin Creek Road for 2.9 miles which becomes Poormans Creek Road for another 1.1 miles to a T junction and left onto Sterling Creek Road. Go 4 miles to the 4 mile marker and the trail is well marked 100 feet past the sign. The Trail is 5.5 miles long and can be a return trip or a turnaround earlier. 2100 total ascent for return trip. April 20 (Friday): Flower hike in the Enchanted Forest to the Felton Memorial
TH: Thru Jacksonville and take Highway 238 towards Applegate for 15 miles. Just before downtown Applegate and the bridge, make a right onto North Applegate Road for 4.5 miles to a right on Kubli Road for 400' and then right on Slagle Creek Road for 1.5 miles to the pavement end at the TH. EDT: 60 minutes. Description: Take the Enchanted Forest trail about 0.8 miles to a signed right over to the Felton Memorial. The memorial honors 3 men killed in a timber related helicopter crash in 1993. Distance: 5 miles. Climbing: 600'. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 80 miles.
April 23: Sterling Mine Ditch Trail: Bear Gulch TH to the little Applegate TH (100 Hikes, p. 152) New hike
TH: Head up I-5 to exit 24, Phoenix. Left into Phoenix and then right on OR-99. Turn left onto Stage Road then for left on Griffin Lane. In about a mile turn right onto West Griffin Creek Road for 2.9 miles which becomes Poormans Creek Road for another 1.1 miles to a T junction and left onto Sterling Creek Road. Continue to Little Applegate Road, about 9 miles, and turn left. Continue to the Bear Gulch TH and leave the hikers and then position the cars another 2.4 miles east at the Little Applegate TH. Return the drivers using a shuttle car to the Bear Gulch TH to begin the hike. EDT: 50 minutes. Description: Trail starts out uphill, finishes downhill. Good views of the Siskiyous to the south and coastal ranges to the west; Distance: 8.2 miles; elevation gain: 1,100 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 70 miles.

April 30: Hyatt Lake to Greensprings Summit
TH: From Rite Aid take Highway 66 15.1 miles to Greensprings Summit and leave a shuttle car. Continue on another 1.8 miles to a left at Greensprings Inn onto East Hyatt Lake Road for 3 miles to the PCT crossing. EDT: 45 minutes.
Description: Walk along the PCT thru flower-filled woods and meadows. Stop for pictures at Little Hyatt Lake. Lunch at the 21 man log. Big views of Emigrant Lake and Mount Ashland. Distance: 7.4 miles; elevation gain: 1,200 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 45 mi
