TH: Take DIM to its end point at Highway 140; turn right (east); after approximately 3 miles go left on FS 3651 for 8.5 miles; turn left onto FS 3659 for 1.3 miles to parking area at TH; EDT: 90 minutes
Description: Hike through the Sky Lakes Wilderness Area to Red Lake; return same way. If it’s a good year for huckleberries, this is where we will find them.

September 11: East Boulder Lake - (p. 232 in 100 Hikes) Meet at 8:00 AM At Rite Aid
TH: South on I-5 to Yreka Exit 773 and take Highway 3 for 39 miles through Fort Jones and Etna to Callahan. Right in Callahan (behind the Emporium Saloon) on South Fork Road for 0.7 miles then straight on McKeen Road (40N17) for 2.3 miles to the McKeen Divide. Left (SE) on 39N63 (Boulder) for 2.9 miles, left on 39N10 for 1.2 miles. EDT: 1:45. Beautiful hike in the Scott Mountains of the Trinity Alps Wilderness past East Boulder Lake and several smaller alpine lakes / ponds up to the ridge with views of Craggy Peak, Mt. Shasta, Mt. Eddy, Scott Valley and the Russian Wilderness. Distance: 9.1 miles. Elevation Gain: 1700 feet. Climbing: 2,600'. Max elevation: 7235 feet. There is an option to do just East Boulder Lake and the Upper Lakes for 1500 feet vertical and 7 miles. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 170 miles.
September 18: Fish Lake Trail (p. 128 in 100 Hikes)
TH: Follow DIM 22 mi to FS 37; go left 7 mi to North Fork campground and leave shuttle car; continue to Hwy 140 and go right 5 mi to Summit SnoPark. EDT: 60 min
Description: Pick up PCT heading south; cross Hwy 140 and continue to junction with High Lakes Trail; turn right onto High Lakes Trail and continue 6 mi past Fish Lake Resort to North Fork campground.
Distance: 7 mi; elev gain: 500 ft. Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 70 mi
PSeptember 25: PCT between the Mt Ashland Ski Road and Highway 99 at Siskiyou Summit Hike Leader: Rich Stickle
TH: Take I-5 south to Exit 6 and proceed south on Old Highway 99 for about 0.8 miles to the signed PCT crossing on the right to leave a shuttle car. Continue on Old 99 for another 0.1 miles to a right on the Mt. Ashland Ski Road and continue up the road to the PCT crossing just before the 7-mile marker. EDT: 30 min Description: Go north along woodsy stretch of PCT down to Siskiyou Summit; there are occasional openings with views; mostly downhill with one steep uphill stretch. People with knee problems may want to avoid this hike, due to the long downhill stretches. Distance: 8 miles; elevation gain: around 300 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 40 miles
