August 7: Gumboot Saddle to Devil’s Crest - 8 AM departure
This new hike for Monday is well worth the drive. Moderate hike with fabulous views. TH: Down I-5 to Exit 38, Central Mount Shasta. Right on Hatchery lane .3 miles then left on Old Stage Rd for .3 miles. Right on West Barr/ NF 26 for 18 miles. PCT TH is at left across from parking at summit of crest. Good paved roads. 4 mile hike along saddle with views of several lakes, then lunch overlooking Devil’s Pocket with huge views of Shasta, Lassen and Eddie. Moderate hike. Distance 8 miles. Elevation 1500 feet. Weather forecast. RT Driving Mileage 180.

August 14: PCT over Brown Mountain Lava Flow RT (100 Hikes, p. 130
TH: Take Dead Indian Memorial Rd 22 miles to Forest Service Road 37; go left on FS 37 8 miles to Hwy. 140; turn right (east) onto Hwy. 140; after 4.2 miles turn left into the Summit parking area; toilets available.  EDT: 60 min.
Hike description: hike well-built trail thru forest and over basalt rock deposited by Brown Mt. lava flow to high point of trail; return same way.
Distance: 5.8 miles RT; elevation gain: 550 feet. Weather forecast. RT driving mileage: 70 miles

August 21 - Eclipse Event
Gather at Kerr Manor sometime after 9:15  AM to be ready for the max effect at 10:16 AM. As the eclipse wanes we will launch into the brunch phase. Champagne could be in order. 

August 28: Oredson-Todd Woods to Lithia Park. Leave at 9:00 AM Hike Leader: Rich Stickle
TH: From the Rite Aid parking lot drive up Tolman Creek Road about a mile. Turn right onto Green Meadows. Turn left on Lupine to Oredson Todd Woods parking. Description: Follow trail into the woods. Many trails in the woods but best to take the high trail so you don't have to criss-cross the creek too much. Take the bridge in front of the waterfall up out of the woods to the right. Follow the trail around to the White Rabbit TH and past it until the trail becomes upper Park Street. Down Park to left onto the TID canal trail. Take the TID trail past Walker Avenue. When trail access ends take bridge to left up steps to road. Turn right onto the road (Pinecrest Terrace). Continue to intersection of Woodland. Turn left on Pinecrest and follow it around the gorge to Elkader. Go down Elkader to left on Ivy Lane. Up Ivy, cross Mountain Avenue continue on Ivy to driveway at end on right, down driveway and into woods. This is Liberty Street Park.
Follow trail around to right then left to exit the woods out driveway to Morton Street. Cross Morton to Waterline Road follow Waterline through neighborhood and up to Ashland Loop Road. Right on A L Rd cross Terrace Avenue short jog to left then right down Ashland Loop Road. Past Happy Horse Farm take foot path by fence to left down hill to Glenview. Take Glenview to left and down to Lithia Park entrance behind the swimming reservoir. Follow trail through park to plaza for lunch. Take RVTD bus (departs every 20 minutes and costs $1 for seniors) to Bi-Mart stop then back to Rite Aid parking lot. Distance: 5 Miles. Elevation Gain: 400 feet. RT Mileage 0. Weather forecast.
