August 3: Donomore Meadows to Dutchman Peak - Meet at 8:00 AM.
TH: Turn at Ruch and head south for 9.3 miles. Just past the Country Club cross the bridge and take the second left onto Beaver Creek Road / FS 20. Up FS 20 for 14 miles to Silver Fork Gap. Cross the intersection and take the road at 11 o'clock which is FS 2025. Continue on FS 2025 for 4 miles to Donomore Gap and park on the right. EDT: 90 minutes. Description: Nice views on this walk along the PCT and great views from the Dutchman Peak lookout. Distance: 10 miles; elevation gain about 2,000 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 110 miles.
August 10: Mt. Eddy (opposite Mt Shasta in California) (p. 210 in 100 Hikes) - Meet 8:00 AM.
TH: Drive south on I-5 and take Stewart Springs Road exit (about 1.5 miles after passing rest area next to Weed); turn right at both stop signs, then left onto Stewart Springs Road; after 4 miles, turn right onto Road 17 for 9.3 miles to the upper / PCT TH. Drop the hikers here and then position a shuttle car 1.3 miles further on down the road at the hairpin curve at the lower TH. EDT: 105 minutes. Description: Wildflower heaven, inviting lakes, spectacular views of Mt Shasta; alternate turn around point is the ridge top before the long, barren slog to the summit. Distance: 10 miles; elevation gain to summit 2,200 feet, to ridge 1,400 ft. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 165 miles.
August 17: Wagner Butte (p. 140 in 100 Hikes) Meet at 8:00 AM at the Bear Creek Greenway Parking Lot 0.9 mile north of the 99 / Valley View intersection.. Hike leader: Hank Morgan
TH: From Talent make a left onto Rapp Road and continue on to Wagner Creek Road. From the start of gravel continue 2.3 miles to a left to stay on Wagner Creek Road. Continue another 3.6 miles, making a left after crossing the cattle grate, to the TH. EDT: 45 minutes.
Description: uphill most of the way, but great flower displays and spectacular panoramic views from the top.

August 24: Union Peak - Crater Lake National Park (p. 77 in 100 Hikes) Meet at 8:00 AM in the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street.
TH: Take Highway 62 towards the south entrance to Crater Lake National Park. The trail begins approximately 1 mile west of the entrance on Highway 62 at the Pacific Crest Trail crossing. Description: This is one of our favorite hikes; great views combined with just a bit of a challenging rock scramble near the summit. Follow the PCT for 3 miles to the Union Peak trail junction. Follow the Union Peak trail to the summit. Distance: 10 miles; elevation gain: 1,600 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 170 miles.
August 31: Trinity Alps: Trail Gulch & Long Gulch Lakes (p. 206 in 100 Hikes) New Hike. Meet at 8:00 AM.
TH: Down I-5 to the Fort Jones / Etna exit (Exit 773). Follow SR 3 for 39 miles into Callahan. Right on Cecilville Road for 12 miles to Carter Meadows Summit and then continue 0.8 miles down to a left at the Carter Meadows Trailheads sign. Continue 1.8 miles to the Trail Gulch TH on the left and drop off the hikers. While the hikers are getting ready, position a shuttle car another 0.8 miles along the road at the Long Gulch TH on the left. EDT: 2 hours. Description: Steve and Maria recommended this hike after hiking it a couple of times. A nice loop hike in two valleys in the Trinity Alps through Alpine forests and past two mountain lakes. Lunch on the ridge with views of Shasta and the high Trinity Alps. Distance: 8 miles. Elevation gain: 2,300'. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 180 miles.
