Leave from the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street in Ashland promptly at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sun-screen and rain gear. October 3: Upper Rogue River Trail: Woodruff Creek to Bridge To Nowhere RT (p. 92 in 100 Hikes)leave at 8:30 Hike Leader: Rich Stickle
TH: Take Highway 62 towards Crater Lake and make a left onto FS 68 about 7 miles beyond Prospect; continue 2 miles to the TH at Woodruff Bridge. EDT: 90 min.
Description: Follow the river upstream from Woodruff Bridge; go one mile beyond Natural Bridge to the Bridge to Nowhere; cross the bridge and go right a short distance to our lunch spot at Viani Falls; then re  turn the same way. If we’re lucky, the vine maples and dogwoods will provide spectacular fall color.  Leader Rich Stickle

October 10: Greensprings Summit to Hobart Bluff RT Hike Leader: Rich Stickle
TH: Drive Hwy. 66 to PCT crossing at Greensprings Summit EDT: 45 min.
Description: Trail is mostly in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument; go north on PCT to “Hobart Bluff Viewpoint” sign; turn right 0.3 mile to top of bluff; enjoy lunch and 360 degree views, then return the same way
Distance: 7.2; elev. gain: 1500 feet; Weather Forecast. RT driving mileage: 40 miles. Leader: Rich Stickle

October 17: Lower Rogue River Trail: Grave Ck. to Whiskey Creek RT (100 Hikes, p. 199)leave at 8:30
TH: Take I-5 north to Merlin (Exit 60); drive thru Merlin and follow Galice Rd. 19 miles to far side of Grave Creek bridge; turn left downhill to the boat ramp parking and the TH; EDT: 90 min.
Description: Follow north rim of Rogue River canyon past Rainie Falls to Whiskey Creek; return same way; spectacular scenery, but trail is a little rough in places. Bring plenty of water and a hat; we have had some problems with overheating on this hike
Distance: 7 miles; elev. gain: 1270 ft. Weather forecast RT driving mileage: 140 miles.

October 24: Emigrant Lake Hike Hike Canceled, Wind and Rain
An interesting but safe itinerary, starting at the Pioneer Cemetery. The hike includes some interesting views of the lake. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 20 miles.

October 31: Takelma Gorge (Upper Rogue Trail) RT (p.90 in 101 Hikes)leave at 8:30
TH: Take Highway 62 towards Crater Lake and make a left onto FS 68 about 7 miles beyond Prospect; continue 2 miles to the TH at Woodruff Bridge.  EDT: 90 min.
Description: walk along the Rogue River thru Takelma Gorge from Woodruff Bridge to the Rogue Baptist camp; return the same way; trail is rough in places due to lava rocks.  A hiking stick is very useful on a very steep short stretch of trail.
Distance: 7.5 miles; elev. gain: 800 ft. Weather forecast. RT driving mileage: 130 miles.
