Leave from the former Haggen’s parking lot in Ashland promptly at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sun-screen and rain gear. July 4: No hike—Independence day

July 11: PCT / Big Red Mountain
TH: In Talent, left on Rapp Road. Rapp Road turns into Wagner Creek Rd with the Wagner Butte parking about 5 miles along the dirt road. Continue 8 miles to FS 20 T Junction. Turn right on FS 20 about ½ mile to Siskiyou Gap TH and parking. A relatively short drive. The PCT winds around Big Red Mountain through cool woods and along some cliffs with a good trail. Lots of views. Near the high point before the trail heads down, turn left on a gentle slope through fields to the top of Big Red Mountain. Lunch on rocks with 360 degree view after touring the summit. Distance 6 miles. Elevation gain 1,200 feet. Weather forecast. Driving Mileage: 60 miles.

July 18: Deadfall Lakes (Mt Eddy) RT (p. 226 in 100 Hikes)leave 8:30 am
TH: Drive south on I-5 and take Stewart Springs Rd exit (about 1.5 miles after rest area at Weed airport); turn right at stop sign, then left onto Stewart Springs Rd; after 4 miles turn right onto Road 17 for 9.3 miles to PCT crossing; continue an additional 1.3 miles to Deadfall Lakes TH
Description: Walk uphill 1.5 miles along Deadfall Creek to junction with PCT at Middle Deadfall Lake; continue uphill another 1.5 miles to Upper Deadfall Lake.
Distance: 6 miles; elevation gain: 1500 ft; Weather forecast. RT mileage: 165 miles

July 25: Union Creek Trail. (p. 94 in 100 Hikes)meet 8:30 am
TH: Take Hwy 62 towards Crater Lake to Union Creek. Park in the parking lot to the left of the highway just before Union Creek. Toilette available. EDT: 105 min. Description: Pleasant walk along the creek through the forest until a scenic waterfall. Elevation: 500 feet. Distance: 8.2 miles. Weather Forecast. RT 150 miles.
