Leave from the Haggen's parking lot in Ashland at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sunscreen and rain gear as appropriate. August 5: Donomore Meadows to Dutchman Peak -

New hike.  Meet at 8:00 AM. Hike Leader: Keeley Kirkendal
TH: Turn at Ruch and head south for 9.3 miles. Just past the Country Club cross the bridge and take the second left onto Beaver Creek Road / FS 20. Up FS 20 for 14 miles to Silver Fork Gap. Cross the intersection and take the road at 11 o'clock which is FS 2025. Continue on FS 2025 for 4 miles to Donomore Gap and park on the right. EDT: 90 minutes. Description: We last hiked to Dutchman Peak in 2012, but from the Wrangle Gap side.  Since the road is so bad between Wrangle Gap and Jackson Gap we decided to approach from the west side, via Donomore Meadows. Nice views on this walk along the PCT and great views from the Dutchman Peak lookout. Distance: 10.5 miles; elevation gain about 2,000 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 110 miles.

August 12:Squaw Meadow and Gray Butte (Mt Shasta) (p. 218 in 100 Hikes) Hike Leader: Lynn Clegg
TH: Take the first Mt. Shasta Exit (mile 740). East on Mt. Shasta Blvd. to the first left and then right on Ski Village Drive over to a left onto Everitt Memorial Highway and then up to the Panther Meadows parking lot. EDT: 90 minutes. Description: We skipped this one last year because of the smoke. This time we will be doing the loop in a counterclockwise direction, having lunch atop Gray Butte. The Squaw Meadow loop starts at 7,440 ft and reaches a high point of 8,300 ft; Distance: 6 miles; climbing: 1,800'. Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 180 miles.

August 26: Trinity Alps: Trail Gulch & Long Gulch Lakes (p. 206 in 100 Hikes) New Hike. Meet at 8:00 AM. Hike Leader: Steve Weyer

TH: Down I-5 to the Fort Jones / Etna exit (Exit 773). Follow SR 3 for 39 miles into Callahan. Right on Cecilville Road for 12 miles to Carter Meadows Summit and then continue 0.8 miles down to a left at the Carter Meadows Trailheads sign. Continue 1.8 miles to the Trail Gulch TH on the left and drop off the hikers. While the hikers are getting ready, position a shuttle car another 0.8 miles along the road at the Long Gulch TH on the left. EDT: 2 hours. Description: Steve and Maria recommended this hike after hiking it a couple of times. A nice loop hike in two valleys in the Trinity Alps through Alpine forests and past two mountain lakes.  Lunch on the ridge with views of Shasta and the high Trinity Alps. Distance: 8 miles. Elevation gain: 2,300'. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 180 miles.
