August 1: Deadfall Lakes (Mt. Eddy) RT; (p. 226 in 100 Hikes) - leave 8:00 AM
TH: Drive south on I-5 and take Stewart Springs Rd. exit (about 1.5 miles after passing rest area at Weed Airport); turn right at stop sign, then left onto Stewart Springs Road; after 4 miles, turn right onto Road 17 for 9.3 miles to PCT crossing; continue 1.3 miles to start of Deadfall Lakes Trail. EDT: 105 min.
Description: Walk uphill 1.5 mi along Deadfall Creek to PCT at Middle Deadfall Lake; then continue uphill 1 mile more to Upper Deadfall Lake; return the same way.
Distance: 5.5 miles; elev. gain: 1500 feet. Weather forecast. RT driving mileage: 165 miles.

August 8: Big Red Mountain (PCT) RT - leader: Lynn Clegg
TH: In Talent, turn left on Rapp Rd; continue until the intersection of FS 22 and FS 20 on the Siskiyou Crest. Turn right 1 rough mile to PCT crossing. EDT: 60 min.
Description: Follow PCT around Big Red Mt thru cool woods and over serpentine barrens towards Wrangle Gap; stop for lunch at high point on trail; return the same way.
Distance: 5.5 miles; elev. gain: 1000 feet. Weather forecast. RT driving mileage: 60 miles

August 15: PCT: Soda Mt Rd to Little Pilot Peak RT (100 Hikes, p. 136)
TH: Drive Hwy 66 14 miles and turn right on Soda Mt Rd just before reaching Greensprings Summit; continue some 5 mi to PCT crossing.  EDT: 45 min
Description: follow PCT south through meadows and forest to Little Pilot Peak; return the same way.
Distance: 6 mi; elev gain: 1000 ft. Weather forecast.  RT driving mileage: 50 miles

August 22: PCT: Brown Mountain Lava Flow RT (100 Hikes, p. 130
TH: Take Dead Indian Memorial Rd 22 miles to Forest Service Road 37; go left on FS 37 8 miles to Hwy. 140; turn right (east) onto Hwy. 140; after 4.2 miles turn left into the Summit parking area; toilets available.  EDT: 60 min.
Hike description: hike well-built trail thru forest and over basalt rock deposited by Brown Mt. lava flow to high point of trail; return same way.
Distance: 5.8 miles RT; elevation gain: 550 feet. Weather forecast. RT driving mileage: 70 miles

August 29: PCT: Grouse Gap to Siskiyou Peak RT - Hike leder: Randy Stothers
TH: Leave I-5 at exit 6 and take Mt. Ashland Hwy. to ski area, then drive another 2 miles on FS 20 to PCT at Grouse Gap.   EDT: 45 min
Description: follow PCT 2.7 miles to Siskiyou Peak for lunch; return the same way.
Distance: 5.4 miles; elevation gain: 1050 feet. Weather forecast. RT driving mileage: 45 miles.
