June 5:Rogue Gorge: Union Creek to Woodruff Bridge (p.86 in 100 Hikes) - Meet at 8:30 am. TH: Take Highway 62 east from Medford to Union Creek, parking in the lot just before Becky's; on the way, leave shuttle car at Woodruff Bridge; EDT: 90 min. Description: Follow Union Creek down to its junction with the Rogue River and from there follow the Rogue to Woodruff Bridge. It's springtime along the Rogue - dogwoods and other flowers should be in bloom. Distance: 7 miles; elevation gain: mostly downhill. Weather Report. RT mileage: 150 miles.
June 12: Azalea Lake Pass above Azalea Lake (Red Buttes Wilderness - p. 154 in 100 Hikes) Meet at 8:00 AM TH: Go past the Applegate store, cross the bridge and head south on Thompson Creek Road for 11.9 miles to a left on Carberry Creek Road. Go 2.8 miles to the second right onto NF 1030. After crossing bridge make an immediate left and go 5.1 miles to a left onto NF 400. After 4.7 miles on NF 400 bear right onto NF 800 at the fork and then stay left in 1/2 mile to the TH. EDT: 2 hours. Description: We are going to take a look at what the Fort Complex fires did to this area last summer. Distance 10 miles; elevation gain: 2,000'. Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 120 miles.
June 19: Stein Butte (p. 149 in 100 Hikes) TH: Past Applegate Lake to the T, left on Applegate Road for 0.9 mile and make a left just past the bridge into the parking area for the Seattle Bar TH. EDT 60 minutes. Description: Steady up to a ridge crest for spectacular views of the Siskiyous and then on to the Stein Butte summit, site of an old fire lookout. Distance 9 miles. 2,400' elevation gain. Weather Forecast. RT mileage 90 miles.
June 26: Four Mile Lake to Summit Sno-Park - New Hike. TH: Follow DIM to a left on Highway 37. Up to Highway 140, right (east) for 4.1 miles to the Summit Sno-Park where we will leave a shuttle car. Back on 140 for 3.2 miles the to the Four Mile Lake turn. Up Highway NF-3661 for 5.8 miles to the Four Mile Lake Campground. EDT 60 minutes. Description: Head NW from the campground past Squaw Lake to the junction with the PCT. Head south on the PCT back to the Summit Sno-Park. Walk through the woods past small lakes and ponds. Distance 9.5 miles. 1,000' of climbing. Weather Forecast. RT mileage 100 miles.
