Leave from the Safeway parking lot in Ashland at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sunscreen and rain gear as appropriate. April 3: Lower Table Rock (p.80 in 100 Hikes) Hike leader Margita LaGrotta TH: Follow Table Rock Road (off Biddle Road in Central Point, near I-5, Exit 33) for 10 miles; turn left on Wheeler Road 0.8 mi to parking area; EDT: 45 minutes. Description: Climb to the plateau; pickup side trail to west side of horseshoe and follow around to viewpoint.  On return, drop down through woods back to the car.  Distance 7 miles. Elevation gain 700 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage 50 miles.

April 10: Lower Rogue River East Trail: Grave Creek to Alder Creek (p. 189 in 101 Hikes)
TH: Take I-5 north to Merlin (Exit 60); drive thru Merlin and follow Galice Road 19 miles to the far side of the Grave Creek bridge; turn left downhill to boat ramp and TH; EDT: 90 minutes. Description: Follow north rim of Rogue River canyon past Rainie Falls to Alder Creek and back; spectacular scenery, but trail is a little rough in places. You may find poles useful on this hike for both the occasional side stream crossings as well as the rocky up and down trail. Distance: 10 miles; About 2,500' of up on this one; lots of little ups and downs that add up to a good workout. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 150 miles.

April 17: Hanley Gap to Baldy Peak - New Hike
TH: Thru Jacksonville to Ruch and left on Upper Applegate Road towards the Country Club. Just beyond the bridge after the Country Club take the second left, Beaver Creek Road for 3.6 miles to a right (south) on FS 2010 / Hanley Gulch Road. Follow FS 2010 for 5.0 miles to Hanley Gap. EDT: 75 minutes. Description: We will basically follow the ridge from Hanley gap to Baldy Peak. We will start on the Little Grayback trail from the upper end and head west to where we drop down to FS 300. We will then follow FS 300 to the Baldy Peak trail. The Baldy Peak trail heads north with stupendous views from the Siskiyou crest across the Applegate Valley. Summiting Baldy Peak (which is less than 3 Dans up from where the Baldy Peak trail crosses the upper end of the Mule Mountain trail) for lunch is mandatory. We will return on the Baldy Peak trail to FS 300 directly back to the cars. Distance: 6.5 miles. Around 2,000' of climbing. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 90 miles.

April 24: Enchanted Forest Trail to Ridge View (p. 3 Favorite Hikes of the Applegate) New Hike
TH: Thru Jacksonville and take Highway 238 towards Applegate for 15 miles. Just before downtown Applegate and the bridge, make a right onto North Applegate Road for 4.5 miles to a right on Kubli Road for 400' and then right on Slagle Creek Road for 1.5 miles to the pavement end at the TH. EDT: 60 minutes. Description: We will start out on the Enchanted Forest trail and then take the side trail to the Felton Memorial. After returning to the main trail we will continue on up to a point where we branch off of the Enchanted Forest trail to make our way up to the ridge line for lunch and views from the Red Buttes to Gold Hill. Distance: 7 miles. Climbing: 1,800'. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 80 miles.
