Friday Hike Schedule for February 2013

Leave from the Safeway parking lot in Ashland at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sunscreen and rain gear as appropriate. February 1: Snowshoe Trip: Buck Prairie (Dead Indian Memorial Road)
TH: Take DIM about 18 mi. to Buck Prairie Sno Park; Sno Pass required for drivers EDT: 45 min.
Description: start out on Buck Prairie Rd and make a right at the junction by the toilets; continue about 1 mile, then return the same way or complete a loop via Natasha’s web. (Try not to snowshoe in cross-country tracks.)
Distance: 3.6 mi; elev. gain: 500 ft; for loop: 5.3 mi/600 ft. Howard Prairie SNOTEL. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 40 miles.

February 8: Snowshoe hike starting at the Deadwood Nordic area (DIM at milepost 22). New snowshoe hike. We will go either north or south on FS 37, depending on conditions. Howard Prairie SNOTEL. Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 50 miles.

February 15: Upper Table Rock
TH: Follow Table Rock Road (off Biddle Rd in Central Point) for 5.2 mi; turn right on Modoc Road for 1.5 mi to trailhead parking area; EDT: 45 min.
Description: Follow the trail to the top of the mesa, then walk along Meadowlark Lane to the vicinity of the radar station for lunch; return the same way.
Distance: 5 mi; elevation gain: 750 ft.  Weather forecast. RT mileage: 50 miles

February 22: Loop thru Emigrant Lake and nearby roads.  This means a short drive, a short hike, and lunch in Ashland. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 20 miles.
