August 2: PCT from Soda Mt. Rd. to Green Springs Summit via Hobart Bluff (p. 136 in 100 Hikes)
TH: Drive Hwy. 66 15.7 miles to Green Springs Summit and leave shuttle car; then turn onto Soda Mt. Rd. and continue some 5 miles to PCT crossing (2nd crossing of power lines). EDT: 45 min.
Description: Trail is in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument; go north on PCT to “Hobart Bluff Viewpoint” sign; turn left 0.3 mile to top of bluff; enjoy 360 degree views; then return to PCT and continue north to Green Springs Summit. We can stop afterwards at the Green Springs Inn.

August 9: Union Creek Trail (p.94 in 100 Hikes) - leave at 8:30 AM
August 16: PCT: Grouse Gap to Siskiyou Peak RT
TH: Leave I-5 at exit 6 and take Mt. Ashland Hwy. to ski area, then drive another 2 miles on FS 20 to PCT at Grouse Gap.
Description: follow PCT 2.7 miles to Siskiyou Peak for lunch; return the same way.
Distance: 5.4 miles; elevation gain: 1050 feet. Weather forecast. RT driving mileage: 45 miles.
August 23: Deadfall Lakes (Mt. Eddy) RT; (p. 226 in 100 Hikes) - leave 8:00 AM
TH: Drive south on I-5 and take Stewart Springs Rd. exit (about 1.5 miles after passing rest area at Weed Airport); turn right at stop sign, then left onto Stewart Springs Road; after 4 miles, turn right onto Road 17 for 9.3 miles to PCT crossing; continue 1.3 miles to start of Deadfall Lakes Trail. EDT: 105 min.
Description: Walk uphill 1.5 mi along Deadfall Creek to PCT at Middle Deadfall Lake; then continue uphill 1 mile more to Upper Deadfall Lake; return the same way.
Distance: 5.5 miles; elev. gain: 1500 feet. Weather forecast. RT driving mileage: 165 miles.
August 30: PCT: Brown Mountain Lava Flow RT (100 Hikes, p. 130)
TH: Take Dead Indian Memorial Rd 22 miles to Forest Service Road 37; go left on FS 37 8 miles to Hwy. 140; turn right (east) onto Hwy. 140; after 4.2 miles turn left into the Summit parking area (this turn is into Klamath Co.); toilets available.
Estimated drive time to trailhead: 60 min.
Hike description: hike well-built trail thru forest and over basalt rock deposited by Brown Mt. lava flow to high point of trail; return same way.
