Leave from the Safeway parking lot in Ashland at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sunscreen and rain gear as appropriate. April 5: Sterling Mine Ditch Trail: south from Armstrong Gulch (100 Hikes, p. 152)
TH: Proceed west from Phoenix to Sterling Creek Rd; turn left (south) for 7.3 miles then turn left onto Deming Gulch Rd; at the first road junction turn right 1.2 miles to the Armstrong Gulch TH.  EDT: 60 min
Description: Follow the Sterling Mine Ditch trail 3.5 miles till lunch time, then retrace route; great views if the weather is clear. 
Distance: 7 miles; elevation gain: 200 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 65 miles

April 12: Lower Table Rock - the other leg of the horseshoe (100 Hikes, p. 86)
TH: Exit I-5 at Hwy 62 and go north on Biddle Rd past the airport to Table Rock Road; turn right on Table Rock Rd 10 miles, then left on Wheeler Rd 0.8 miles to the Lower Table Rock parking area; EDT: 45 minutes
Description: Looking down from the air (use Google satellite view), Lower Table Rock is shaped like a horseshoe.  The standard trail from the parking lot leads to the east leg of the horseshoe. We will use an abandoned trail to access the west leg of the horseshoe, then make our way on an old road to the east leg of the horseshoe and return to the TH via the standard trail.
Distance: about 5 miles RT; elev. gain: 1000 feet. Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 50 miles

April 19: Sterling Ditch Tr: Little Applegate TH to Tunnel Ridge TH (100 Hikes, p. 152)
TH: Take Hwy 238 from Jacksonville 8 miles to Ruch; turn left onto Upper Applegate Rd; after 7 miles turn left on Little Applegate Rd and continue 8.5 mi to Little Applegate TH; leave shuttle car at Tunnel Ridge TH on the way. EDT: 75 minutes
Description: Trail starts out uphill and finishes downhill, climbing above the Ditch Trail to go around a private inholding; some nice views over the Siskiyou Mountains.
Distance: 6 miles; elev. gain/loss: 950/1200 feet. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 80 miles

April 26: Jacksonville Woodlands Trail System (100 Hikes, p. 150)
TH: City parking lot in Jacksonville behind post office; EDT: 30 minutes
Description: check out the spring flowers on this jaunt along the Jacksonville trail system, finishing up on the Beekman Woods trail.  Lunch at Doc Griffin park; restroom available.
Distance: 5.3 miles; elev. gain 1100 feet. Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 35 miles
