Wednesday Hike Schedule for December 2011

Leave from the Safeway parking lot in Ashland at 9:00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Bring water, lunch, hat, sunscreen and rain gear as appropriate. December 7: Safeway to Lamb Saddle to In-town Lunch  Head up Mountain and Walker to pick up the White Rabbit trail.  Follow across to the trail paralleling the loop road to Lamb Saddle.  Up to Lamb Butte and then down the ridge to the top of the park.  Lunch in a restaurant of the group's choosing. Distance 9.5 miles, elevation gain 2,000 feet. Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 0 miles.

December 14: Lower Table Rock (p.80 in 100 Hikes)TH: Follow Table Rock Road (off Biddle Road in Central Point, near I-5, Exit 33) for 10 miles; turn left on Wheeler Road 0.8 mi to parking area; EDT: 45 minutes. Description: Climb to the plateau; pickup side trail to west side of horseshoe and follow around to viewpoint.  On return, drop down through woods back to the car.  Distance 7 miles. Elevation gain 700 feet. Weather Forecast. RT mileage 50 miles.

December 21: Mule Mountain Trail to Baldy Peak (p.228 in 100 Hikes) TH: On left hand side of Upper Applegate Road, just past the 12 mile marker (5.5 miles beyond the Star Ranger Station); park off pavement wherever you can; EDT: 60 minutes. Description: Lovely trail that winds its way unremittingly up the hillsides above the Applegate Valley. Distance: 8.6 miles RT; elev gain: 3,000 feet. Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 70 miles

December 28: Jacksonville Trail System TH: City parking lot in Jacksonville behind post office; EDT: 30 minutes. Description: Close-to-home, pre-New Years leg stretcher on Jacksonville trail system; includes several steep stretches. Lunch in a Jacksonville restaurant of the group's choosing. Distance: about 6 miles; elevation gain/loss: 850/850 ft. Weather Forecast. RT mileage: 30 miles
