January 6: Ostrich Peak Loop
TH: park at gate about 100 yards up Hitt Road, off Strawberry Lane
Description: Full loop going counterclockwise around Ostrich Peak; exact route varies from year to year; snow is possible on higher sections of trail.
Distance: 8 mi RT; total elev. gain: 2250 ft.  RT mileage: 3 mi

January 13: A winter loop hike from Safeway with lunch in downtown Ashland
TH: Safeway parking lot in Ashland
Description: From Safeway go up Mountain Avenue to the Pinball trail to the Alice-in-Wonderland trail to the new Bike-to-Ashland Creek trail. Lunch in a downtown restaurant; recommendations welcome
Distance: 6 miles; elev gain: 1,600 ft.  RT mileage: 0 mi

January 20, 2009: Buck Praire - Snowshoe Trip
TH: Take DIM about 18 mi to Buck Prairie Snow Park; EDT: 30 min; RT mileage: 40 mi
Description: follow Buck Prairie Rd a reasonable distance past the viewpoint at 1.7 mi; return the same way or complete a loop via Bullwinkle’s Run, Wayback, and Peabody’s cross-country ski trails
Distance: 4-5 mi; elev. gain: 750 ft.  RT mileage: 40 miles

January 27, 2009: White Rabbit/Alice-in-Wonderland-Trails Loop
TH: Safeway parking lot, Ashland; EDT: 10 min; RT mileage: 5 mi
Description: Walk from Safeway along Crest-to-Sea trail to the White Rabbit TH.   Take White Rabbit trail from Park St Ashland Loop Rd; then followAlice-in-Wonderland and BTI trails down to Glenview Drive and on to downtown Ashland for lunch; recommendations welcome
