Sterling Mine Ditch - North from Armstrong Gulch 3-21-18

The weather forecast was for a 70% chance of rain and windy.  However, it turned out to be a wonderful day for a hike and no rain was encountered.  We started the hike in 45 degree weather and finished in 55 degree weather.

John led the group up the trail and we decided to turn left (north), instead of right (south).  This part is relatively flat, except for the 340 feet up at the beginning.  Several flowers were noted by our flower enthusiast.  Most of the trail is sheltered by trees, but we were able to find a nice sunny spot for lunch looking at Grayback Mountain 19 miles to the west showing snow on top.  It was noted that several hikers were grumbling lunch was too short, given the nice weather.

Refreshments were taken at Boomtown Cafe and all had a good time.
