Despite some confusion about just how to get to the trailhead, we had a wonderful day. The blue, blue sky ever present. Cool in the shade, warm in the sun, the weather cooperated perfectly. On the trail we only had to cut the branches of one tree that fallen accross the trail.
The trail follows the ditch for the first few miles and then climbs up the mountain. The southern Oregon mixed conifer, oak, and madrone forest is always a delight. We ate lunch on a sunny, grassy hillside on the way up. We welcomed a new hiker, Johanna, who blended right in with the regulars. No one seemed overtaxed by the 8 mile hike. A good time was had by all.
