East Applegate Ridge 2-1-21

Make a note: No matter what the weather forecast says come hiking on Monday...any Monday. You'll have a great time and won't regret it like you do when you read about the hike you missed.

People are always thanking me for the great hike or the great weather, but it's not me, it's hiking friends coming together doing something they love. The Monday forecast was not good, 80% chance of rain with wind gusts to 33 mph. So what happened? We put on our rain gear and hit the trail. The rain was minimal with most coming when we got back to the cars at the end of the hike.  The wind did gust at times and when it did we held onto our hats and laughed.

This new hike from a few years back has become familiar as an old friend. Hikers expressed how happy they were to be on this trail again. We started out welcoming the road crew that was filling in the ruts and potholes on the road up to parking. We also welcomed back John Kerr freshly vaccinated and a sure sign of approaching Spring like the Robins in the trees.

Speaking of Spring, Liz was revved about her new botanical book and was hot on the trail of assorted Lichen in the trees and shrubs. Patricia filled in admirably as our picture snapper for the day. And we were all heartened that Margita found her flattened sock lost in the East Applegate parking lot some three months prior.

It was a great day...wish you were here.
