Several of us headed past Jacksonville to hike up the East Applegate trail, hoping to get back to our cars before the forecasted rain arrived. Going up the trail was hard because it was frozen. Near the top we did encounter some wind with gusts easily over 25 mph in the open areas. We had a very short lunch and headed back to our cars. It was then that we discovered that the trail had thawed and was quite muddy. On the good side it did not rain on us.
Overall the views were great and everyone enjoyed being outside hiking.
