On Wednesday we had 13 hikers come out to hike in the Jacksonville Woodlands. It was a chilly 34° when we started from the library.
We made our way amongst many trails and eventually made our way to Panorama Point. We had a very clear view of Mount McLoughlin. There was a young man there that Leslie spoke to and discovered they were doing some sort of brush removal. He was kind enough to take our group photo.
We continued up and down and around trails that were frozen for the most part. We eventually got to Liz's Loop. About half way around, we stopped for a quick bite to eat while enjoying the sunshine. As we continued on our hike, we came upon some slippery muddy spots.
We made our way back down and crossed Highway 238 and went back to the library. We had hiked around 6.25 miles and 1,244 feet of elevation. Some of the hikers returned to Ashland while the rest of us walked down to The Wine Lounge at the Jacksonville Inn. We were met by 4 others and we celebrated Marilyn's 79th birthday. We walked back to our cars and had gone around 6.58 miles total for the day.
