Jack-Ash Trail - Greenstone to Anderson Ridge TH 4-23-21

Another perfect day as we did Jack-Ash Trail / Anderson Ridge. At the TH we Ring Tail Catmet a ranger who was wandering around with directional equipment. We were informed he was monitoring ring tails. Apparently there are some 20 in the area that have been collared. We also learned that ring tails are related to weasels, rather than raccoons.

Along the ridge the views of the surrounding mountains were at their most splendid, with the higher peaks still full of snow. The views remain among the best of all of our hikes. We stopped on the way back for libations at the Pump House in Talent, where Dan supplied a huge pile of fries. The ensemble made short work of them.

Next Wednesday's hike will be a relaxed stroll up to and beyond Viewpoint Mike, with a stop at Phil's Frosty on the way back.

On Friday we will do my scenic version of Greensprings to East Hyatt Lake, cutting out a mile of boring trail. Lunch will be at the historic 19-hiker log, if there is anything left after another year of carpenter ants.

Let me know if you want to come along. Departure 9AM from Kerr Manor.
