Bear Creek Greenway - Phoenix to Medford 2-11-19

Photos by Rich

Too much wind, snow and icy roads, caused your ever vigilant and safety conscious leaders to cancel the Pederson Nordic trail snow shoe hike for a second time in 2019. Instead we pulled another ace from under our base layer and visited the Greenway again.

Unlike last Monday, we had no snow and sunny temps in the 40s. We started at Blue Heron Park in Phoenix and walked briskly ( three mph ) up to Hawthrone Park in Medford. We stopped in at the bird exhibit along the way and Judy spotted some early white blooming bulbs.

Outside the softball fields we saw two crews of Medford's finest going through drills with their fire engines. Also, a low flying hawk paid us a visit along the path.

By the time we reached our new lunch location, The BricktownE Brewing Co., we had amassed 6 miles and had healthy appetites. We all agreed the Mac and Cheese was great and ordered all around along with beverages. During lunch Judy told us of many hikes she has experienced in Siskiyou county while living in California, which we may add to the schedule later in the year.

RVTD delivered us back to our cars. Another great day on the trail.
