Enchanted Forest 5-1-19

Photos by Barry, Dan, Keeley and Liz

Seven of us headed out to the Applegate Valley to hike through the Enchanted Forest.  It was a perfect day for being outdoors and enjoying the flowers, clean air and clear blue sky.  The flowers were out in force, with the Trillium flowers everywhere in the forest.  They seem bigger than any others I have ever seen, anywhere.

The creek was running a bit, but the one creek crossing we had was easy.  We all made it to the “top”, which is more near the top.  It was suggested that we hike down a side road to find  good place for lunch.  We were successful and all enjoyed their lunch in the sun, sitting on the grassy road with a view of the Applegate Valley and mountains beyond.

During lunch, we spotted a potential future lunch spot up on a nearby ridge, so as we headed back to the cars, some of us took a detour to see if we could find an easy route.  Well, we found a great place for lunch, but not all thought it worth the effort to get there.  The route was very steep at times and involved some serious bushwhacking.

Refreshments were taken at Boomtown and it was a great outing.
