It was a warm sunny day. The temperature climbed to 81oF after lunch and it felt like summer was here.
On the way up we took the side trail over to the Felton Memorial. After returning to the Enchanted Forest trail we followed it up to the point where the old jeep road headed up to the ridge. After crossing the road below the ridge we bushwhacked up the final 300' or so to the ridge, which we dubbed Sabin's Summit. We were on the ridge by 12:45 for lunch.
Unfortunately we were about 15 years too late for unobstructed views but we did have leaky views of the Applegate Valley to the south and Mt. McLoughlin (45 miles), Mt. Scott (72 miles) and Mt. Bachelor (137 miles) to the north. If we do this hike again we will probably lunch at one of the view spots on the jeep road.
We took refreshment in the private room at Frau Kemmling's Schoolhaus Brewhaus. We considered sitting on the outdoor patio at the back but were put off by a jack hammer project.
