On Wednesday we had 10 hikers come out to hike the East Applegate Ridge Trail from the Sterling Creek Road side. The clouds were low and we didn't have much of a view.

As far as wildflowers, there were only a few California Poppies, a plant with very tiny pink flowers and another yellow flower with a dark brown or maroon center. Also some star thistles and another little yellow flower.

At around 1 mile, we stopped at a bench that was new to many. I explained to the group that they had added that bench and another one at the place we were going to stop for lunch. We also stopped at the tree that used to look like a monster. Most of the limbs have fallen off and it no longer has that appearance. We did a short stop at the bench that is 2 miles from the trailhead, then continued on a little bit farther to a nice overlook where the other new bench is located. That was where I planned to have lunch because this was Bob's first hike back with our Wednesday group and I wanted to keep that in mind. Five of the hikers decided they wanted to continue on. I didn't want to separate the group, but they seemed disappointed that the hike was so short. I checked to make sure they had a walkie talkie and told them to go ahead. They returned just as I was passing out the chocolate. We took our group shot then headed back to the cars led by Michael.

We arrived back at our cars at 12:45 and hiked between 5.11 and 6.16 miles and gained between 587 and 771 feet of elevation.
