Ashland Hiking Home

We were all bundled up as we tackled the 4.3 miles and 1,400 feet of elevation gain on the Wonder Trail. Maria looked like she was ready to take on Alaska. We soon warmed up as we ascended.

Wonder Trail is an attractive walk through old growth forest as it winds through the contours of the Ashland watershed. Up and up.

Finally we arrived at the top and took a break for lunch. We soon found out it was decidedly colder at 3,600 feet elevation so we headed down. After 1 1/2 miles we took a detour to Road 2060 and motored the rest of the way. It shortened the hike from 8.3 miles to 7.6 and probably took off 45 minutes.

A few of us retired to Louis' on the Plaza.
